BC racing Coilovers on a 2LT RS Pre-load Question

Cant seem to get an answer from BC racing so I am reaching out to you guys. Being as the BC coilovers were built for the SS Should I use a higher pre-load on the springs basically compressing them more to compensate for the difference in front end weight between the v6 and v8 ?

Do you mean bc racing???

And if so, preload should be the same at 5mm. Adjust the height by the ride height clevis.

The short answer is NO.

Preload on a coil spring shock is really only to dial in ride height. if you want a softer or firmer ride - you do this with different springs.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish, though?

I mean yes and no - If something weighs 2000lbs on 5mm of preload 1500lbs on that same preload the spring is going to act different no ?. So on the SS when BC did their installs and testing the spring would have been more compressed therefore having a different ride quality with the heavier engine.

Pre-load has very little to do with ride height

objective is to Accomplish a proper install with a proper ride - The back is perfect but the front just seems off.. no matter what dampening I put it on.

A small amount of preload prevents the coil from falling out of the spring seat when the car is lifted. 3 to 5mm front and 5 to 10mm rear. You are good to go.
