ZL1 Front Struts FYI
My ZL1 started making a clunking noise from the area of the front left suspension. I took it into the dealer and it's the strut. The dealer told me there is a bulletin out for replacing the front strut. It will take 3-5 days for my particular dealer to get the part. I can still drive the car without harming anything until the part arrives then it's a 3-4 hour fix.

how miles on the car before it starting clunking? why so long to R&R the strut, does this include a new alignment in that time?

Did this bulletin apply to all '17 ZL1s or just a particular production cycle? Just A10s or M6s as well?

~2,100 mi. They didn't have the struts on hand so they had to order them. Alignment is included.

Not sure if it is all 2017 ZL1s. The dealer didn't make note of any conditions like M6 vs A10.

My front stabilizer bar came loose last week. Dealership re-tightened and sent me on my way.
They said they have had a few cars in there with the same issue.

If someone can host a video it would help. I made one of the strut binding noise I’m experiencing on my 2018 ZL1/1LE. The clink at low speeds can be heard too. I checked the swaybar endlinks and all tight. It looks like Chevy upgraded the nuts to Nord-lock style that bite into the metal.

Sub’d. My dealer has been chasing a similar noise on my 18 A10, 4k miles.

Sure it isn't the sway bar end links? Was a huge issue on the SS cars.
It definitely produces a "clunk" from the front end. My 1LE was in 3 times for it until they finally replaced the nuts with new "locking"ones. Last edited by SK GT; 05-09-2018 at 01:36 AM. |
