Wheel Center Cap Installation

Hey guys - may sound stupidly simple but I received my new 50th painted center caps today. Wasn't sure how to install them without taking the wheels off. Watched a fe vids and looked at some threads and every one said either take them off and be safe not lazy, or use a screw driver or pry tool to pop off. I even saw a thread where someone used velcro.

I am retentive beyond belief and didn't want any marks on my wheels. That said, I am also extremely busy and would rather do something smarter than harder.

Solution - I used a plastic trim pry tool that worked like a champ - made absolutely zero marks of any kind on the wheels or caps, and took literally three minutes to do all 4. Pics below! Beautiful center caps! Thanks RCC!

Thanks Mike!

Couldn't agree more Glen! These are invaluable. Here's the set I bought a while ago. Have used them multiple times.

I used a credit card, it's flexible enough to insert around the cap and pop it off. Learned that trick on this forum!!ce

I saw a method of using velcro, take a piece about 4" long and place sticky side down on cap to be removed on its edge where it meets the cap opening and take other end doing same. Once done push sticky sides down to meet in the center so you ultimately have a loop and close it on up so it looks like a T with the top of your T covering the cap center. Pull straight off and push new one in place. May have to use a new piece of velcro for each wheel but beats removal of 4 wheels for such an mod.

Saw that video too. Way too much time and wasted velcro. Plastic pry tool did it in just a few minutes - for all of them.

This is perfect, thanks for the post (and your new caps look great, btw!)!!
I had no idea trim tools were even a thing, and meanwhile I have new center caps (and other mods planned) sitting here waiting for my car and I now know the best way to switch them out! You guys rock!

Do you by chance have a pic of the center caps you are putting on? Thanks! Much appreciated.

They're actually the 50th Anniversary center caps in toro1966's photo in the 1st post up there.
I had been going between the HBM & the 50th Ann. Ed. for a while and finally decided to go with the Hyper Blue but add some "Fifty" touches to my 2017 - center caps, arm rest, floor mats are all waiting at home for my car.
I had already gotten them before I'd thought of River City, so I'll prob put them on and use them as they are for a bit, see how I feel, and maybe send them in to RCC to put some color on them.

So everyone agrees plastic pry tool is SAFE and EFFECTIVE (like a good condom?)

I'd rather not spend all the time jacking up one tire at a time, removing, and then reinstalling each tire if this will work just as well.
