Battery

How long is everybody's batteries last. I have a 2012 SS convertible with 55,000 miles. When can I expect to have to change it.

I have a 2010 with 45k+ on my car and I'm still on the original battery (vehicle born on date of July 09). I may however, have to change it this year. First start last year was a little sluggish.

OEM Batteries were built like Russian Roulette. Depending on cycle, age and weather they will die every 15,000 or last 100,000. The "part" was built to fail with little quality control, if any.

One of the first mods I did within 6 months from the dealer was replace the battery with an AGM.

Huge variation in battery life depending on your usage.

My battery was OK after 7 years, but I changed it as preventative maintenance. I'm sure some will post here about much shorter battery life.

Looking at where you're at, I'd be getting a little nervous. In the desert, a battery will die with absolutely no warning. I went to dinner once with a four year old pickup (in Phoenix), all was fine when I arrived, but after dinner, the battery was dead flat. The heat will kill it pretty quick unless you're lucky!

My '10 (build date 09-14-09) was going strong until a Kaufman tire place did some diagnostic test and killed it (almost). Luckily, it didn't completely die until next week (September '15). Replaced with a Braille 21lb battery.

They usually last 3-4 years depending on use. For for accurate results use a volt meter, if the battery shows 12.1-12.3 V while engine is off, expect replacing soon!

Your on borrowed time. Why not just replace it? Do you wait to run out
of gas before filling up? I replaced my early '10 SS battery 2 years ago
just because I didn't want it to fail at an inconvenient time.

Be 7 yrs in March. Just now starting to show signs. Every battery is that way.......as stated, all depends on usage...extreme climate, etc.
