NPP, M6 - any of you guys sometimes get a loud "pop" sound on a high rpm 1-2 shift?

As the title states. I noticed sometimes (not all the time), on a high rpm 1-2 shift I can get a pop, crack, almost backfire gunshot like sound out of the exhaust. Not sure why I only get it at times, may depand on how exactly I shift? Was curious if any other M6 guys with the NPP have noticed this as well. Surprised the hell out of me first time I heard it lol...

It hasn't happened to me (yet), even though I"ve pushed the RPM to where I could feel the acceleration begin to decline.

But with my last car-2010 Camaro V6, after I supercharged it I was a little too late with the up shift and hit the rev limiter- thought I'd done something really bad (expen$ive!). It made a helluva crack/pop/backfire sound, LOL.

But she stayed in one piece. Make sure you're shifting soon enuff- it gets easy to get lost in the sensation!

It was at about 5500 rpm when I heard it, so not close to the rev limiter.

Does yours only do it at higher rpms, and not all the time?

When mine did it (radio was off), it was a pretty loud "pop" when I shifted to second. Not sure if I like it as it reminds me of a backfire lol.

I remember gm engineers saying the backfire was on purpose because of the npp during the find new roads tour before the car was released. This sounds crazy but I love it when my car backfires. Pretty close to sex to me

It's completely normal and you can put the car in other modes, but tell the exhaust to stay in stealth, tour or sport mode to mitigate it. Just use the MyLink interface under Options/Settings -> Driving Modes

Thought I read similar, but for the autos?

Thing is it doesn't always do it, high rpm 1-2 shift if I do it say five times, maybe it will do it once or twice.

It must have a small window of circumstances that must be met for it to happen is my guess.

The pop sound is a feature, not a bug.

Normal mine does it. Just from 1-2. If you watch YouTube vid's you will hear it. First time it scared me but then I remembered I read and heard it before.

It was much louder than I expected, sounded like a gun shot lol...and I've never had a car that does this before. Not sure how I feel about, no matter how seldom it does it.
