Chevy wants to void my warranty for a 2nd cat delete

So a couple days ago I got a check engine light on my 2016 2SS Camaro. I brought it in to the dealership today and I'm being told the code was P0430 "low eficiency" and that my warranty will be void because they noticed welds on the car. I had a secondary cat delete done on my car about 3 months ago. My car drives great no problems other than the check engine light came on. I noticed that on one of the welds water seems to drop on cold starts. Maybe I have an exhaust leak and that's throwing the code. But even then nothing is wrong with the car why would my warranty void? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You tampered with emission controls, my understanding is that the Clean Air Act allows the manufacturer to void your warranty based on this. It also says you can be prosecuted and fined for it.

This isn't meant to sound preachy, just informational.

Water dripping from a weld is a pretty good indicator that there is an exhaust leak.

Get the leak fixed at a muffler shop, have the code cleared, and you won't have any problems.

You mess with emissions, you have to be prepared to have warranty issues...

For now, do what Glen e said.

Thanks! I'll have the muffler shop redo the weld. It sucks i also got charged $140 for just looking up the code. But it seems they won't void my warranty. Manager was very understanding. I'm located in Texas and I hope to face no prosecution for it! Lol

heads up - in the future just go to your local Advanced Auto or Autozone and they will pull the code for you for free.

I would have gone to autozone. But I didn't know nor thought an exhaust leak was the problem.
