I have a spare manifold. I'm gonna take it by my boys over at Reher Morrison for a look see. Based around what Darin tells me whether or not he thinks he can massage more power out of it, would make my decision easy to get one from you guys.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely a believer. I just want to see what my local guys are capable of doing before I throw down my money. Ex prostock owner/driver Bruce Allen wants to do some work on mine so I wanna see what his thoughts are. ...

Well those guys understand cross section and short turns so I am curious to see what they say they would do.

My main concerns or questions would be where does this factory manifold hit a wall? There's a point of diminishing returns and I need to know if this stocker can run with an MSD in any situation. I've purchased many parts twice in the past so I've vowed to not do it on this car.

Here is the quick summary...

ported stock
- gains across the RPM band
- retains stock look

MSD intake
- some loss in the midrange
- better gains from about 6K to redline

The MSD runner length and plenum volume really gear it to a higher redline and/or more cubic inches.

Everything is going to hit a wall eventually. If you are going H/C or stroker in the future then just do the MSD and send it in for porting. If you are looking at adding parts that will extend the rpm band or shift points to say 6,700 rpm or higher, then do the MSD. If those are not your plans then you can't beat the ported stuff. I feel the actual real restriction once you go to either is the stock TB. Porting it helps but only goes so far. I believe there is a 100mm option but I am sure it will only bolt to the MSD. Either way, the ported MSD is going to be your max effort intake. Our intake will still support a ton of power. Over 500rw easily. I plan on getting my hands on two MSD's for back to back to back testing against my ported stuff. I will run a stock one and I will port one and test them all with out unstrapping the car. Until that is done all of this is based off of other MSD testing I have seen.

Here is a graph with the cursor over the max gains at 6,000rpm and beyond. 21/18rw. That carried at 20/17rw till I let off. So the gains were still pretty good up top.

Did anyone ever run on a dyno with stock tuning and see similar gains?
I'm assuming the stock tune is safe with the increased flow?

Thanks

Not that I know of yet. You could be the first. There are people running them at the track with great gains on the stock tune.

I am trying to get a local M6 car to let me test on his without a tune. The AFR did not change at all over 6 runs with my test. So I think it is safe to say it will do just fine for a stock tune.
