New best on the run flats.

I was able to get a new best on the run flats today. Once I got the tune dialed in I was way overpowering the track. I was having to roll into it and fight through a lot of traction issues. It was spinning the 1/2, 2/3, and chirping the 3/4 and 4/5 pretty good. It turns out it needed 2% more fuel and some timing to match. Top timing was right at 25* in certain spots. I am thinking the fuel is around 12.6-7 afr. Average timing was around 24*. I didn't have time to hook up the WB today. I got my shift points dialed in as well. I did not mess with the TQ converter lock up since the 60ft wasn't there. Car was full weight with a half a tank of gas. I had three passes over 95mph in the 1/8th and one pass over 118 in the 1/4.

The day was between +200f-300ft at the time of this pass. It took me 12 passes to get to this point. There was just no good way to launch it. I had a 1.77 60ft right off the street but I couldn't duplicate that all day. 1.80 was the next best. Coolant temp was near 200F as usual and the IAT's would start in the 70's and drop to the low 60's by the end of the pass. I would love to see what this thing would do on a -800 night.

I think I am officially done wit the stock tires. I would have been in the 11.50's for sure if I could have duplicated my 60fts from the other night and not spun on every shift. I would really have like to see a 11.6 anything. I was coming around to make a last pass and they pulled the plug on me. It is what it is.

Next up is E85 and DR's on C6Z rims if they fit. I may do headers but I think I am just going to pop the blower on and be done with it.

Those are impressive times for street tires. I can't wait to see what it does with a blower.

Very nice. I'm pretty impressed with the run flats. Bone stock, 67 miles on the odometer, I cut a 1.919 to a 8.051@89.44 in the 1/8th. Tire pressure same as when I drove it off the lot, no adjustments to anything.

Now I've got to try the MT DRs I still have on an old set of 18" rims I have from my Gen5. The weight savings alone ought to gain me a tenth or two.

Good times. Yea, 1.7s are fantastic for stock tires. Only managed that feat once.

Thanks bro. You are just running a CAI correct? If I had your back half I would be crazy happy as well. Any time you want more power just let me know. LOL.

The run flats have done really well. Just wish I could have matched my previous 60fts and that they would have held down track. I hate to give up on the 11.50's I said I would run. I feel like a quitter now. It was there for sure. But you can't go forward if you are spinning. Rolling into the throttle isn't the best drag racing technique. I beat the crap out of the car yesterday and I am just happy it is still together. There were quite a few runs I should have just lifted. Concession has never been my thing though. Oh well, we will see how she does with more power and some traction.

Thanks guys. I really have to figure out how to do a bunch of quotes in one message.

I have run 7 sub 1.80 60fts so far. I usually average 1.77-1.81 if the track is good. I have never had issues down track like yesterday though. Last week I was getting a little 1/2 spin. I know consistent 1.75's are doable.

I really wanted to catch you drag pack/DR guys. You guys are flat out flying. With no tunes none the less. I would still be low 12's high 11's if I didn't have a tune. I really just need to find a race night were the DA is going to go down instead of up as the racing progresses.

Mine has just the CAI and Drag Pack. Stock weight it big mph for sure. I guess my car has to sacrifice in some areas as goes out the back door pretty dam fast. If mine hadn't hit the rev limiter in 4th everytime I'm sure I could have run 122 and 11.60's. Hey next year will be a banner year for most of us who add some more mods over the winter.

My car seems to 1/8th pretty good but my top end sucks. I am not sure what is up with that. There was a 20mph head wind yesterday but that shouldn't matter much. The rear end is groaning pretty bad in the morning. I think I am going to have to take it in for a swap. Car wasn't very fast stock. Oh, well.

I think the 100lbs of sprung weight and God knows how much reciprocating mass you dropped with the drag pack did a lot. Crash was telling me he picked up 20rw over the stock tires with his drag swap. Just like Ultra and FMJ to an extent. FMJ is only down 40lbs total though. Being able to hammer it off of idle and reaping the rewards of the converter flash has to be a big help. I will only be able to tell you if there is any truth to all of this if I get off my cheap butt and buy a real drag pack. I am going to run some 305/35/18 DR's if they fit. They are 28" tall. I am not super happy about that but I am looking towards the future and the blower. I was thinking 285/40/18 at 26.9" but I will need all the tread I can get later. With the 28" tall tire I can run it to 7K and see if I can hold 4th the entire way. I doubt it will be a benefit but I will try it.

No doubt everyone is going to get faster. My track stays open as long as it is above 40* so I have an advantage there. I have a buddy that rents the track a lot as well. It sucks that your tracks shut down at a certain time. As long as we can all keep progressing and I can be a part of it is all I really care about.
