Can't get my car fixed
My car is the shop for the third time.
I tried getting my car fixed in June and had 6 things for the dealership to take care of. Car spent 2 days in the dealership. First day they didn't touch it. Second day they basically did nothing except tell me that they couldn't reproduce any of the issues. I drove the car home and all issues were still there. One of the items was for the oil pickup tube bolt retention TSB. Now I am wondering if they even checked. Second time in the shop was 2 weeks ago. Main issue was a service air bag warning. Just like the first time at the dealership, the dealership did nothing on the first day. They ordered the part late on the second day. They gave me the run around and kept the car over the weekend. I finally threw a fit and picked up the car on Monday and told them to call when they had the part and could fix it in one day. Fast forward to today when I dropped off the car this morning and was reassured that it would be fixed same day. I finally called at 4pm today and was told that they had the car tore down and would need to order a wiring harness and had a call into Chevrolet to get a part number. Now the car is sitting at the dealership again waiting on Chevrolet to call. Three trips and 9 days in shop and not ONE item has been fixed to date. Here are some of the issues I have with the car. 1) Service Airbag warning screen. Waited a week for a seat belt tensioner. Dealership took 2 days to order. Dealership can't overnight a part I guess. Now it appears that a wiring harness was the issue the entire time. Waiting for Chevrolet to get back with the dealership. 2) Engine shakes in 4-cylinder mode. Mechanic can't feel the engine shaking. I have to shift to 7th gear to force it into 8-cylinder mode because it is shaking so bad. Now it shakes in 8-cylinder mode when lugging instead of downshifting like it should. Heard on forum of possible issue with torque converter. 3) Smokes on hard acceleration. I reported in June. I printed picture for dealership. They can't replicate. They say direct injection will smoke and it is normal. It looks excessive to me. 4) NPP Exhaust rattle when in stealth or tour mode. Reported in June also. They say they are going to apply Loctite. Still makes noise after Loctite. 5) Rear speaker shelf rattle on driver’s side. They can't replicate. 6) Noise when making low speed turns from a stop. They can't replicate. 7) Car won’t backup in morning. Start engine and put in reverse. Car doesn’t move for 5 to 10 seconds. Gradually starts to backup. Reverse is normal after that until next morning. Didn't slip when it was new. Dealership says that is normal. Wouldn’t even check the transmission. Never owned any other car that slipped while in gear. 8) New issue started after 2nd visit to dealership. They ran almost a half a tank of gas through the car. Now the rear end pops when making hard right handed corners at slow speeds. I asked the dealer to check the bolts on the rear end because of a post in the forum. They probably won’t do that either. I do have high standards and want the car to perform as it should. I loved the car when I first got it right at a year ago. Now I am getting sick of it. I have called Chevrolet directly and complained. I think that Chevrolet is trying to help and they have contacted the dealership. At this point, I want to get the air bag fixed at least and take to another dealership for repairs. |

Call customer service and complain about what's happening, also write a bad review on the questioner they send out.for that dealership. |

I have been having the SAME issue since last week. It only seems to happen when cruising in V4 mode like you said when I am only lightly accelerating. It vibrates the whole car and I usually manually downshift for it to stop the vibration. I am bringing it in later this week to hopefully get fixed. |

Found the following on another site today. Site only gives enough information to tease you. May not be accurate. Might be worth a shot with your dealer. I am not even going to bother with mine. I will be looking somewhere else for repairs. Dealer still has the car for now. Chevrolet called this morning and are working directly with the dealer.

What happens when you put it in reverse? It actually goes into reverse and gas doesn't make it go? Or it stays in park when you try to put it in reverse? I'd be interested in seeing the picture of the smoke too. Yeah i've had more problems than I would want out of mine, but I am hoping they all get sorted out real soon for ya.

Does your service airbag warning screen come on while your windshield wipers are on? I took mine to the dealer over a month ago for this issue. The dealer told me that they either can not get the wiring harness from GM right now or GM is working on making a new wiring harness to fix the issue. I could wait for the new part or they could make their own part to fix it. I decided to wait for a new part. Monday I took the car in for a few other issues and they are going to do a temporary fix until they can get the wiring harness. |

The car has only seen rain once since I bought it. Can't trust a weatherman. Oddly enough, the airbag warning started a couple of days after that rain shower. I was expecting some issue in the dash or the firewall based on your previous post. The dealer says the harness is part of the seatbelt mechanism. Who knows what it is at this point.
As far as reverse goes, I put it in reverse and let off the brake and give it some gas and nothing. Eventually the car will start to gain motion and backup after 5 to 10 seconds. It is like it has to circulate transmission fluid before it will move. After it starts moving, it is fine until it has set for a long period of time. Happens every morning I drive it. |

The service air bag message has only came on for me a couple times and only when it was raining and I had the windshield wipers on. I also have avoided driving in the rain when possible. By keeping the wipers on a minimal amount I have avoided the message coming on during a light rain. So I believe it is some kind of short with the wiper wiring and not necessarily the rain causing the issue. The wiring harness for mine that needs replaced is under the passenger seat or the center console because I was told they have to remove the seat and might need to remove the center console.

I just received an update from my dealer and a bulletin has been released on the service air bag message. There is an electronic interference in the body harness that is under the passenger seat. They are trying to get the new wiring harness so they do not need to do the temporary fix.

I had to call for my update. I haven't received the first update from them.
They are putting my car back together for me to pickup today. GM is making a new harness as you stated. No ETA. My car spent 8 days in this dealers shop when GM knew about the wiring harness issue. Nobody at the dealership ever thought of calling GM until late yesterday. Now I am expected to take the car back yet another day to get this issue fixed. Unbelievable. |

You state they haven't fixed any but you include items 3,5 and 6 which they could not replicate. Can't fix it if they can't find it.
Hopefully the rest get some resolution. Mine coughs smoke also, think its just a thing.

I have a question on your smoke. Coughing smoke pretty much describes my issue. I can reproduce the issue by suddenly putting the gas pedal to the floor after driving at low rpm for a long while. My car coughs up smoke and it is easily seen in the rearview mirror and hazes the entire road behind me. I have a picture below of the car in mid cough. The smoke usually last until the next transmission shift. Does your car smoke like this and does it usually follow hard acceleration after low rpm driving? If so, I will give in to the smoke as being normal for direct injection. I just haven't seen any smoke in any of the numerous 2016 Camaro videos out on Youtube. I would like to think it is normal. Agreed, there are thousands of stories just like mine. I just don't think they even try to replicate. I wrote specifics on how to make the car do each item. For example, you have to be sitting in the passenger seat with the radio turned down to hear the rear speaker shelf rattle. Also, you have to be babying the car and going up a small incline in V4 mode to make it shake. I can replicate each item at least one time a day. I am floored they couldn't duplicate the shake in V4 mode. I was correct on my assumption on number 8 where specifically I asked them to check the bolts on the rear end half shafts. I checked on the rear end when picking the car up today. They said they drove the car and couldn't get it to make a noise. I didn't ask them to drive it. Even if I hadn't been so specific, wouldn't normal troubleshooting include at least a visual/safety inspection to see if the bolts were backing out or something might be rubbing? They never put the car on the lift. I didn't ask for them to take my car for another joyride. I absolutely know they can't hear anything. I knew they couldn't replicate the noise. Now I have to jack up the car and check my own bolts. What in the heck is a warranty for? Futility I guess. |
