Lost Ring Under Vent Rings

So my wife briefly took her wedding ring off while riding home today, and set it on the center console in front of the passenger vent ring. Not realizing there was a small gap between the bottom of the vent ring and the center console, you guessed it, it slid under there. I can't see it using a flashlight, so I'm worried it's really far back there.

Any ideas how I can fish it out, or am I going to have to start disassembling things? Please tell me I'm missing an obvious solution...

I'm laughing and crying at the same time .

I dropped some pennies in there by accident. I tried to disassemble it but no luck, tried to pry/peek from the passenger foot well no luck.

Let me know when you found a solution... I need to know.

Haha, not a bad idea, but I'm afraid it fell down behind the center console. I hate to have the center console taken apart on a car I picked up two days ago! It'll never go back together the same way

I've looked at it. I don't see any other way but removing the console. I had a Bayer aspirin slide down
In there. Lol I can't even see it anymore. You have to get the ring, I don't have to get the aspirin. I feel for ya brother.

Go to https://www.acdelcotds.com/acdelco/action/home

Pay $20 and download the procedure for the piece you need to remove.

Don't pay for those directions, you can find them for free on here. On the other hand I have dropped my military I'd back there and figured it was easier to just get a new one.

Not complaining, but definitely a design oversight here.

I was wondering the same thing. If there is anything magnetic in the ring you can buy numerous versions of magnetic reach tools. Just find one that is pretty flat and go fishing!

It's platinum... so maybe? Guess it would depend on what percentage isn't pure platinum.

If you have any friends who are welders, see if they will give you a piece of small diameter stainless tig filler rod. Then bend a small hook on the end of it and go fishing. I keep one on the side of my tool box and has proven its worth many times in different scenarios

Platinum aways has other metals mixed in to strenghten it, depending on what those are, in this specific alloy, would decide it's magneticity.

Might give this a shot tonight based on the instructions here: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showpo...60&postcount=4

Thinking I might not have to disconnect everything if I can just lift it up or out an inch or two and take a peek.
