Residual Value

I bought a 2016 Camaro 1LT only options being RS package and Auto trans.

I work at a Chevy dealer and using kelly blue book with all of our trade ins I plug in my personal car every now and again to see what its worth. Im coming up on 3 months of ownership and the "value" is at $18,572. These things seemed to drop like rocks, that being said It may just be the rebates that are out for the 16s right now but when calculating the residual value with GM projected %, (the same ones used for leasing), after three months of ownership I am already at 61% original value. Which is roughly what GM projected my exact same car to be at 36 months down the road for a lease.

Trucks, real SUV's and Vetts are the only things that really seem to hold a ton of value. You can get a base 2.0t near me for $21k new. So I didn't ever see them as something that would hold much value.

Central FL, V6, manual for $15,583.

The inline 4's are selling strong, which makes sense. V6 is the worst of both worlds, low torque, and old.

I'm guessing your I4 is going to hold stronger than you think but previous poster is right. If you wanted long term hold on value your best bet is trucks and Vettes, Porsches, etc.

Who wants to make me feel better and tell me, truthfully, that my '17 Camaro has only dropped $5K in value by driving it off the lot?

It's way too early to be figuring out the actual residual value.

However, FWIW any V6 or T4 pony car is worth crap after a few years. Look up the Mustang values for a good idea where the Camaro lower trim cars will be at.

True, it's way too early to know but I think on a percentage-basis the I4 isn't going to do so poorly compared to the V8. Just my opinion, but I'm definitely interested in seeing what happens!

Good thing about the I4 is that it started cheap!
