Procharger or Supercharger?

I want to add more power to my 2013 Camaro SS. What would you suggest for a power add on? I always wanted to install a supercharger but others tell me I should go with a Procharger.

Procharger is a supercharger... Procharger is a centrifugal style over the traditional roots style. "Should" be less heat soak with Procarger over roots style blowers.

A ProCharger is a supercharger. These links will get you up to speed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercharger

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roots-type_supercharger

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centri...e_supercharger

In a nutshell, a ProCharger provides more linear, NA style power. A Maggie will give you more at the low end.

Do what your going to be happy with. It wont be long before all the turbo guy tell TTs LOL.

Me I like the supercharger my self. The Whipple has done me well. Have been beating the hell out of it for 4 plus years with no issue with the 6 rid pulley.

GM is going with the Magnuson MP2300 TVS type for the ZL1 ,so that's what I would pick for a street car .More power down low and they have addressed the heat soak issue so that is no longer a factor . $7000.00 is a lot of money ,but if you want to play you got to pay. TT is much more expensive and complicated , but they can produce over 1200 rwhp . However a stock bottom end won't live long with a TT setup at that power level. 9 to 12 pounds of boost with a supercharger is safe on a stock bottom end . Low end torque is the way to go with a heavy car like the Camaro for a DD street car ..

Do you have a cold air intake, or long tube headers with a tune? that alone is about $1,500 - $2,500 depending on what brands you go.
That setup will net you a solid 50rwhp at least.

If you're looking for major power, then yeah a cam or a supercharger will be in your best interest.

But it all depends on what you want out of your car. Daily driver? Weekend warrior, etc.

Agreed! If you don't have the basics done first then I would get those added in. They can add a good amount of power to your car for a lot less then a supercharger. Look into both options of either doing a cam or a supercharger as well and see how much power your good with.

A complete Cam package can run form $1,000-$4,000 and a complete Supercharger package can run from $9,000-$15,000. All complete with everything your gonna need for the upgrade.

Give us a call if you have any questions .

The question is, "which is better for you?"

It is really going to depend greatly on how and where you are going to use the power. As I understand it, the centrifugal will give you more top end, but may have some lag at the bottom end. So if I were looking to do a lot of straight line racing, and spend most of my time at WOT, I would think centrifugal is the way to go. However, if you spend a lot of time at partial throttle, autocross, road course, and normal street driving, the low end advantage of a roots blower may be the way to go.

I'm not an expert, but those are the basics as I understand. The point being, that the answer to question depends on how and where you drive.

Both can be tuned for use. This is Paul Tracy driving my Camaro at an OPTIMA event with a prototype ProCharger.

This is a GM Engineer / Race Car Driver at Gingerman in Michigan.

My choices right now would be a PC with a Stage II intercooler or a Heartbeat from Magnuson. The HB or Stage II because you live in the heat of Texas.

Having a long run of Positive Displacement (PD) Superchargers (Eaton/Magnuson) and some Turbo to include current TT setup... for daily street use I'd go PD Supercharger. All the bottom end grunt you want for those feisty feeling, jack rabbit sprints to 45-55 MPH (be real, most street driving is done at those speeds). The other options provide much larger top end horsepower but they don't really start to "cook" until nearly 40+ MPH and it is time to think about shutting it down.

My tuner always seems to do a lot more Magnuson type than any other.
