What's a fair extended warranty price?

I may pull the trigger on a 2016 camaro convertible later today. What's a fair price to expect to pay on a 5 year warranty (2 years beyond the factory warranty)?

I don't usually buy extended warranties, but with the extra mechanical stuff that can go wrong on the convertible, it might be worth the cost.

To clarify, I'd prefer purchasing it from the dealer, NOT a 3rd party warranty. Thanks

Same here. I have used that on my last 4 cars through them. The only time I have had to use it was my 97 grand am.

I only get the GEICO anymore. Only $70 per year for 7 year/100k mile coverage. Used it on my wifes X5 and was super easy.

So I got the 6 year/48,000 miles $0 deductible warranty for $1066, which seemed very reasonable to me. I doubt that I'll even put on 3,000 miles a year, so I didn't need a larger mileage warranty.

Since mine is a convertible, I figured the extra peace of mine was worth it. And perhaps so, as the convertible top is having a major malfunction issue just after getting it home. :-(

My Chevy dealer offered it for $2400ish. I thought it was kind of pricey for 7 yrs or 84K miles (which ever comes first). What do you guys think?

Hi richm,

We regret to hear you’re having concerns with the convertible top on your Camaro. This is certainly not what we like to hear, especially given the age of your car.

Have you brought this to your dealer’s attention yet? If you would like, we’d be happy to reach out to them to schedule an appointment. Please send us a private message if you’re interested.

Best,
Lauren E
