Thumbs down Not the journal I wanted

So I would love to start a journal about making my brand new Camaro SS Faster. But that will have to wait. Here is my Unwanted Journal.

April 9th, 2016. I bought my first Brand New Car. Traded in a 2006 C6 Corvette for it.

April 22nd, 2016. A coward coworker backed into my car then ran away like a little €}%<#. But the car it so new that the dealer could not get parts to fix it yet. So I'll just have to wait with a jacked up car.

May 7th, 2016. I had to have a little fun with it before it went into the body shop. 12.07 @ 115!!

May 17th, 2016. The car has been in the body shop for just over a week. The ETA was originally may 10th, now NO ETA on parts, cost, anything. Just a car with more damage than first suspected.

Holy hell that looks bad! It looks real bad after the body shop started cutting it up Hope they get it fixed for you quickly that really sucks less than a month to have that happen. I've been there before but at least my truck was totaled so I got to start over. Feels bad man.

Can't believe you whacked off the quarter before you confirmed parts availablity. Original damage was certainly driveable. Good luck! Had this happen on a 370Z when they first came out. Had to do the front and rear repairs a few months apart due to parts issues..

Sorry to see going through such a bad time with a new ride. And, what about the coworker? I hope you're getting their insurance to foot the bill.

I don't get how that not so big looking damage requires all those windows to be removed and that huge chunk cut off?

It crushed the quarter panel in so far that it damaged the inner body structure. We could not determine what additional parts were needed without taking the quarter panel off.

The quarter panel is one solid piece from the front of the door all the way back to the tail lights. To replace it, they have to drill out the spot welds, which are hidden behind the window, bumper and trunk. They are leaving the front portion of the door frame and blending the old and new quarter panel above the door glass. Plus the door was damaged, so the door panel must be removed to fix that. Then paint/blend neighboring body panels.
