Buying a 2016 Camaro? Check out this video

I have gotten a lot of PM's about where I went, how I got the deal I got, what process I did when picking it up, etc. I felt the overall need to simply outline my process.

If you have a specific way you go about buying cars post your guide below. The entire process is more then a check list, its an experience that can be a fun one when done specific ways.

Looking to order a car make sure to hit up @Becky or if your local to SoCal, ping Paradise Chevrolet.

The first dealer I went to lied about having an allocation and I didn't find out that GM had not picked up my order after 3 weeks of waiting. I had to call GM customer service to find out. I immediately canceled my order and went to another dealer in the next town over. My order picked up the next Tuesday and he let me take a 2015 ss home off of the lot to drive then let me trade out that 3 weeks later for a 2016 rs v6 that I'm still driving. So yeah you're right! Do your research and find a good dealer that will take care of you!

These are my loaners.

Thanks for the video. Lots of good common sense suggestions and reminders of things we may have heard or read but haven't thought about. I'm working on an order right now.

40-50k is not easy to earn for most. Totally worth seeing the video before buying.
Thanks

I wish I had this advice prior to ordering my new SS. I ordered mine without any idea how the order process worked, we traded in our 2014 SS Camaro Vert on the 2016, they took our 14 as a down payment, so now I am without a summer car until my 16 comes in. They did not bother to tell me they did not have an allocation at that time either. Boy, have I learned a lot since then, Becky definitely will be hearing from me the next time I order a car.

I was lucky to get an allocation within a couple of weeks of my order, but I sure am missing my convertible especially with the temps hitting 70 here today.

They say live and learn, and YES I sure have learned a lot from this forum.

Thank you all!!!!

I probably jumped the gun. I bought the 14 new July'14, then traded it in April 13, 2016. Not even two years. Was under water 4.3k on it. But I put down 6k, and had $3k in rewards and PO. So it worked out. The 0% was nice on the old Camaro too. The payments at 610 are a little high, but doable.

$610 good Lord... that is pricey. But than again, I put down a chunk of cash...

Great video Sledge, thank you. One question about the car inspection before signing, in addition to inspection should you also take it for a test drive before signing final paperwork? Do dealers frown on this?

Pretty nice video.

However as a dealer I would suggest signing up for a no-haggle pricing program like Costco or Truecar, instead of making offers. Once you start making offers you start the back and forth. Costco and truecar prices are guaranteed and are usually a flat amount under dealer invoice.

If your dealer wants to throw free stuff on top of that, then great. Free oil changes are cool but it is usually just a tool to retain all your service business. I would say not to get hung up on dealer incentives until the deal looks right, alot of dealers might hold firm on a price you don't like but throw incentives at you to distract you.

We never frown on this, I encourage it! Never like hearing the angry "my car makes a weird noise" phone call.
