'Tis a lesson you should heed, Try, try, try again. If at first you don't succeed,Try, try, try again.

Eh... so, it's shifted from 2022 to 2020? Last Camaro body went from 2010-2015.
So, 5yrs + 2016 puts it right around the new Mustang for 7th Gen. The comparos will have to be done over again and may still end up in Chevy's favor. |

thePill is a guy that trolls internet forums claiming to have inside sources about everything. He's a Mustang nutswinger and claims everything about the Camaro is inferior. Before the 6th gen came out, he was saying his sources told him the SS would weigh close to 4000 lbs and crap like that. He's been MIA since all crap was shown to be bogus.

He had a real hard time with the weight. In spite the fact I told him it would be 3700 range as soon as it was announced it was Alpha based.
I cant wait for our Camaro teardown to compare my personal ATS to S550 component weight/material breakdown to the Camaro. In regards to the announcement. I personally feel this has more to do with the sales success of the S550, coupled with what was left on the table when the program was funded; in the context of a unique vs. flexed program like the Alpha. It was funded in dark times for the auto industry. Ford is very cost sensitive, and there is a point where the programs meets a precipice for cost, and a dollar in, means a dollar out somewhere else. We have seen it in every vehicle we have looked at from Ford in a variety of ways. Based on the F150 and GT, and Composite SPE awards they are likely very eager to put lessons learned to us, and the S550 is likely making more money than projected for Ford. Which is always good when you are going to ask for money for program approval from the mothership. In my experience with how things get funded. The Mustang was successful, the segment in general is very strong. There is alot on interest in the segment from them import community because of how well these cars perform and their price point. With the consolidation of other platforms this may have also just freed up resources for a platform that just launched. I guess Europe didn't learn anything from American Manufacturing potential in WWII. We can build some serious shit if we decide to. There is also the regulatory aspect. True RWD platforms have a hard time with Small Overlap crash tests, IIHS NSHTA are incorporating new standards and 2025 CAFE is coming. In my mind the 5 year cycle makes sense from just the emissions side of things. |

Awesome! This is exciting! We are in the second muscle car era. Take the "muscle car" for what it's worth. Hopefully the V8 will stick around.
