As much as I love the z28, that is a horrible et and trap for 1000hp.

That car should be putting mid to high eight-hundred HP to the tire. Should be a bottom 10 sec with 140+ trap.

Hopefully it was tested on a hot&humid Texas summer day.

This could explain the slower trap speed:

GM speaking of the Z28: "Numerous modifications were made to the exterior, compared to the Camaro SS, with new and revised content developed to improve aerodynamics,.... They help the Z/28 produce 440 pounds more downforce at 150 mph, relative to the SS, which generates slight lift at that speed."

Not sure how the comparison goes from the SS to the ZL1, but I assume it's similar. And "lift" (negative weight) versus "downforce" (positive weight) could be a tremendous factor. The z28 could effectively be 500-600lbs heavier at speed. The rolling resistance of those 305's at all corners probably plays a part too.

I didn't see any rear end mods. If it was built for the 1/4 mile GM said the rear end wasn't built for multiple hard launches.

Yeah...it gave me a semi to read about it, but the small ring & pinion is going to break apart if there is a hard launch. Wheel hop will also kill the rear with that much HP. I bet the cost will make one gag!

For that kind of coin you can warranty it yourself at least three times! Plus keep your engine in a bag if you ever want to put it back to stock.
80K..... you can reach that HP without that much. No way, its a nice car, but we are already spending 70-80 on the car... why add another 80 for a supercharger and a built motor

That car should run Mid 9's at over 140mph. My 4500lb dodge challenger SRT making 750 rwhp runs 9.90's at 135

A fool and his money are soon parted. If you want a quality honest build from a shop that will treat you right, this isn't it.

I believe there is an old thread on that topic. The ZL1 has more downforce than the SS if I can recall correctly due to the front end splitter with side wings and hood extractor. They just didn't install some panels and say it looks good.

I'm no engine wizard, but for $80K even I could put together *several* 1000HP motors. This is just badge engineering...
