You don't need a strut tower brace. Do you appreciate how much money I am saving you?

It was installed for the tuning of the MRC in the ZL1 to take out a resonance that was inferring with the data logging. In cars that are tracked they find the turn in is slower with the STB. Aside from an all out race car, there is no tangible benefit that has been documented by anyone.

Does the 5th Gen Camaro Benefit from a Strut Tower Bar?

The brace was and is necessary when the roof is cut off. That is why TEAM Camaro designed and install the brace installing the Vert. The brace is installed on the ZL1 indirectly for NVH. The STB cleaned up some 'noise' on the sensors used to fine tune the MRC. The STB looks cool so it is part of the 1LE package.

It would deny the obvious to say the OE STB does nothing. It does add structure to an already robust monocoque. There is zero data available that documents any gain in handling or lap times. None.

Car and Driver Stress Test

Simons has discovered slipping suspension-member attachments and steering linkages sending false signals to the driver. Once, a race car’s control arm collapsed when subjected to normal cornering loads. His K&C machine has helped teams determine why one race car responds quickly to setup adjustments even as its identically constructed stablemate is a cranky handful. Simons adds that he’s never seen an aftermarket strut-tower brace provide a measurable handling benefit.

When you are considering the modifications you choose to make to your Camaro, we strongly suggest you take a holistic approach and discuss the entire range of modifications with your JPSS Suspension Specialist. They can guide you through the selection process to make certain that each modification compliments all the others to create the best possible custom Camaro for your personal use at the most reasonable cost. Do it right. Do it once.

Here is the answer you were asking for. I have a 2011 2SS/RS that was built in 7/10 and did not have the 2011 adjustments to the towers. I bought the Convertible tower strut for stiffening and used the TPIS 952-448-6021 from Chaska, MN and the car handles flat through corners with the addition of PFADT sway bars. Plus it looks cool if people look under the engine.

I would add that having been a racer since 15 years old that most people on suspension are selling snake oil. You don't improve on your vehicle until you are driving it at at least 110%. Then you can decide where to put your money. Improve your skills before dumping money into dreams. if you are not on a race track or doing track days all this is a moot point. The car is better than you in normal driving conditions. My car understeers terribly like most Camaro's do at the track. I have driven around the point and improved my driving. Now it is time for me to get a camber and castor adjustment for the track. I ordered one from Moreno. After that maybe tires and wheels. But that is going to save me what 2 seconds on the track? Drive as hard as you can with what you have.

I definitely felt the difference in the corners when this was the only handling upgrade I did.
