Chip Foose wheels... thoughts on staggered vs all around

I want to put Foose Speed machined rims on my 1LT. I'm thinking going the staggered route... 18x9.5 on the rears and 18x8 on the fronts. But I'm curious... what are everyone's thoughts if they were an all around same width? 18x8 or 18x9.5? Would anything need to be modified going with the thicker wheel? I'm thinking about the tire life as far as staggered setup goes basically. Again I don't mind either way but I'd like to know your thoughts on this.

There are LOTS of us that are running a "SQUARE" set-up, I have been for nearly 2 years. Not only can I rotate my tires to even out the wear, the car handles better as it removes the understear the standard staggered set-up imparts and you end up with a more neutral steering.

The real question I would have as to whether or not you would have any fitment issues is what is the OFFSET if the specific wheels you are looking at? That will be the determining factor.

Good point. I think I would rather be able to rotate my tires and get more life out of them. As far as offsets go all their wheel widths have a bunch of offset options. How would I figure what offset I'd need? I've never dealt with new rims so bear with me lol.

I just went to their website, I had it bookmarked since I bought a set for my last vehicle. anyway....the absolute best fit for your car, seeing as you want 18's, is the 18 x 9.5 with a +35mm offset 5 x 120 bolt pattern and a 67mm bore.

the part number is #F135189513+35 its the 11th one down< I attached the list off of their website.

Awesome! Thank you much, sir! And those will fit all around even if I plan to lower the car about an inch? What about 18x8.5 all around instead?

They should....but I certainly couldn't guarantee it. and if you look at the cart from Foose's website that I posted....there isn't a 18 x 8.5. but they do have a 18 x 8, +30mm offset.....but you wouldn't be able to put as large a tire on it.

There have been plenty of guys that have lowered their cars with larger wheels/tires all the way around......I know plenty that have run OEM 20 x 9 w/ +40mm offset and lowered.....but will the extra .5" wider wheel and pushed out another 5mm be too much? I really can't say. You will need to do a littler more research before you make your decision and buy your wheels.

JMHO but these cars look better without a bunch of sidewall... I would look at 19" minimum.

Also with 19" and 20" it's possible to run 10.5" all around. I'm looking to run 20x10.5" all around with 295/35-20 all around also. Supposedly with a small 1/4" spacer you can run the same wheel and rotate them freely.

I'm looking for a road course set up. I didn't notice if you were looking for drag strip or road course.

I'm looking for a road course set up not drag strip. Also there is an 18x8.5 rim in the black finish on a few other websites. I like how 18" rims look over the larger rim diameter.

I imagine you should be able to go wider than that. An 8.5" wheel limits how big a tire you can run. At least try to go 10" wide. Again just my opinion.

9.5 is the widest they offer for their 18's (from what I've searched), which is ultimately what I want. I just wanna know if an 18x9.5 wheel will fit all around with no issues and what offest and whatnot I'd need to be able do that.

Тhe wheel itself will most definitely fit. It depends what tire size you're planning on fitting on that wheel. My Camaro is bone stock apart from the wheels. I run 20's all around. 9" on the front and 10" on the back. Front tires are 275 and 305 on the rears. No problems whatsoever

Going with 18x9.5 what is the best recommended tire size that would work? I don't want big bubbly sidewall but I don't want super low profile either... maybe 275/40? And I also want to keep my speedometer correct (or very close) lol.

295/45/18 would be your best size for the wheels size you have selected, and would keep your speed-o correct
