it is additional detergent which is already in your fuel. If you want to clean fuel injectors you normally detach the fuel system from the fuel rail and attach it to a machine or pressurized vessel that sends highly concentrated cleaner though the system.

Absolute waste of money. If you have to use it on a new Camaro or any other new car something is very wrong

The only stuff I regularly use is Seafoam.

If you use Chevron gas, it is already in the gasoline, that is their proprietary additive.

clogged injector is very rare, unless you get your tank sugared or something. I never use snake oil in anything of mine. we have it at work and I promise you won't be able to tell any difference, just like nitrogen in the tires. don't know how many cars I see a week with that crap in them and pressures are still off. now before you guys start....nascar changes tires a lot, it will hold for awhile but not 3000 miles

I must be in the minority as well although not in the Camaro (haven't driven it enough yet). I use Lucas oil injector cleaner in my Jeep about every 4 tanks. When we take our Acura on a road trip, I run a single can of BG 44K through it when we leave. 44K is like $24 a can so I only run it when we road trip. I notice a difference in the Acura for sure when I run the 44K through it at 125k. My Jeep has 95k on it and runs stronger than any Jeep I've driven. It maybe snake oil but I don't think it's hurting anything... No opinion on the Chevron stuff though.

You guys with the direct injected v6s should definitely be using this stuff at least a couple of times a year. Remember, your injector tips are in the combustion chamber. It's a hostile environment. I would use either techron or Gm fuel injector cleaner. If you only fill with.top tier fuel you should not worry about it.

no, it pretty much is a waste. what's in, and what isn't, in your gas is regulated by the feds. there are already plenty of detergents in there. it isn't the 1960's anymore. gas, oil.....everything, has come a long way. the fluids you buy today are 1000x better than what you were using just a decade or two ago. It never ceases to amaze me how much money people waste on stuff like this, 3k oil changes and so forth. |

agreed. the days of water in gas are over. not many people realize this, but when the truck shows up to deliver gas they check to see how much, if any, water is in the tank. that's what they're doing when you see them put the long stick in the tank. they aren't measuring how much fuel is there. if they find more than (I think) and inch of water, then they can't deliver gas until the station does something about it. if they do, they will have to answer to the EPA, consumer protection agency, and weights and measures.
