Dual Mode Exhaust Failure

Well I purchased a Dual Mode exhaust. Installed it with the NPP in a box ( vacuum line from back of intake manifold to the rear of the car etc) after it working amazingly for about a month the catback's vacuum actuator over the passenger tips lost ability to hold vac pressure. so the system will not function.

Unfortunately GM will not sell the Actuators separately and now I am told to buy another $1500 catback. BUYERS BEWARE! IF THEY FAIL THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THEM!

Life in the world of modification and aftermarket parts. (albeit GM or someone else)
Hopefully some alternative measure can be found. Good luck.

Or post a picture of what you're dealing with and maybe we can scour Mcmaster Carr to find a suitable replacement.

Why would a month old part not be under manufactures warranty?
even if the car was voided all parts come with a defect warranty sure sounds like a defect to me.

I'm with Dusk on this one. Unless otherwise stated, ALL GM parts, over the counter or installed by the dealer, come with a 12 month, unlimited mile warranty due to faulty materials, workmanship, etc. Go that route. Don't know how the exhaust is warranted off hand, but check it out.

I think the dealer has to install them for the warranty to be valid. I am not sure if any certified mechanic could do it and keep the warranty. I will check and see if I can find it written anywhere.

Looks like some of the vette guys have replaced them with electric actuators. I'm not turning up any vacuum actuators without buying someone's old mufflers...

Might be time to take the suspect actuator apart and see if you can fix it. You never know... it could be obvious what's wrong with it once it is apart, and with a little luck... even easy to fix.
