Lee's '01 Camaro project/build

So I decided to spend a little money on my car so i bought an SS hood for my Camaro! The hood was originally silver then somebody had a "good" idea to paint it black but they did a crappy job. In fact it was so bad it already started to chip, down to bare fiberglass may i add, all a long on the front lip(pictured below.) So now I'm wet sanding all the layers of paint off and will have to re-prime it with epoxy primer because the previous painter took off the jell coating..
There is also a spot of rust on the rear driver side quarter panel and the mirrors are terribly sun faded into a yellowish orange
so I'm going to have to repaint the whole car.
I will keep you guys updated on my progress and upload photos daily! Hope you enjoy

Id make sure you get the fiberglass hood struts. If not your hood will begin to crack. The stock struts are made for steel hoods, not fiberglass. VFN sells them for like $40 for 2

The hood came with the original struts so i don't think I'll have a problem with those

O ok, as long as the struts are made for a fiberglass hood

Hmm interesting, I wonder if they'd work with mine. I don't have the metal bars in mine for them to to bolt to though.

I'm pretty sure the struts can handle the weight of the hood because we had to take the hood off the car when we bought it.

No, I'm painting it green to match nothing else on the car. Lol yeah I'm repainting the whole car SOM because the paint is bubbling in a couple places and there's some rust in the rear quarter panel.

Finished priming the bottom of the hood! I'll flip it over, prime top side tomorrow, and then it will be ready for base coat

That's going to look great! About 5 years ago my dad had a 2002 sunset orange SS vert. I absolutely love that color. He bought it new in 02 and sold it in 07 with 10k miles.
