5th gen camaro v6 vs 2008-2009 G6 GXP coupe

What do you guys think about this battle? G6 GXP's as well as the 2007 G6 GTP have the 3.6 liter engine making 252HP/251TQ with 6 speed auto transmissions. GXP models weigh in at 3,487 lbs. and the 07 GTP model 3,525 lbs. (both cars coupes). I understand the 5th gen ls/lt models still have a HP advantage, as well as being rwd > fwd. However the G6's are a little lighter especially the GXP...does the camaro stomp the G6

It would probably be close, but I think the Camaro would edge it out. If you believe in the mags, C&D says:

0-60 6 sec
1/4 14.7

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...take_road_test

Also says it's governed at 115, so you could just take the Camaro up to 150 and say bye bye to the Pontiac

Auto for auto: you'll win. I won. Load the brake, get a nice launch and you'll start faster and be keeping on faster. Manual I have no clue but should be similar. Camaro FTW

Camaro should take this for sure. Manual will do better then the auto, but either way you should be good, just get a solid launch and he won't catch you.

These are all approximate figures of course...

250 lbs = 25 hp = .25 seconds through 1/4 mile = 2.....well theres a kink in the formula.

600 lbs = 60 hp = .6 seconds through 1/4 mile = 6 mph faster

Sorry to say but the G6 GXP will win. This G6 car is fast and it is what I traded in for my 2SS. When I test drove the Camaro V6 was not exciting as the G6 GXP.

Often exciting isn't always the best performance bout, such as my girlfriends 350z is close to how much fun to drive as my Z06 but it would get absolutely obliterated. 350s are more fun than SS' IMO but they aren't as quick or fast.

I think it was just as an example of a car that feels faster than it really is, in contrast to the Camaro that feels slower than it really is

It's hard to get an accurate sense of speed in the Camaro; 80 or 90 feel like 60 mph.

you are right about it but what I mean really that I went through a number of z350 dyno numbers and the stock rwhp was around 233hp to 250hp around the same as the 1LT and Ive been hearing horror stories on those z350 so I wonder what makes it a nightmare as they describe !!

350Zs weigh significantly less than a 1Lt. Although the dyno numbers are similar, equal drivers the Z wins. I used to run them with my old LT1 (ran a 14.0 @ 99 and pull them by a length or two, so if you're talking quarter they'll take a stock V6 by a few lengths. It's not 'murder,' but they get a significant lead. Just IMHO

Thanks for the advice. I think that a 30mph roll rather than 1/4 mile race will be better to test the strenght of the 1LT with the z350 in this case!
