Stock vs stock the Camaro SS has a pretty nice advantage. In all the magazine testing I've seen the Camaro SS is about 1/2 second faster in the 1/4 mile. I believe the SHO weighs something like 4300 lbs and makes 365hp.

Stock vs Stock Camaro wins.
But a lightly modded SHO can be nasty. |

the actuality is that it would be close with a L99, but a LS3 otta win pretty decisively. the taurus sho can do 0-60 in 4.8 sec and the 1/4 in 13.3 with trap speed of 105. hell my prev camaro was an l99 - when it was stock, i was running mid 13s in the quarter.
so, to keep it real, the sho may win. here is a link for proof: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ochargers.html alright, commence hating... |

I won't hate on it. The sho is pretty quick, but after driving both I feel my camaro will come out with it.

Depends if or who "tunes" the SHO.
SS should win stock vs. stock.

More like a whole second ! They do bottom-level 14s... solid 14.0 @ 100 mph would be a good run.

"So equipped, acceleration is said to meet or exceed that of a BMW 550i (4.8 seconds to 60 mph and 13.3 seconds at 105.1 mph in the quarter, in our last example)" This is what Ford told the press, when they were comparing their brand new SHO to a last-generation E60 BMW 550i. The figures of 13.3 @ 105 mph and 0-60 of 4.8 is what MotorTrend previously recorded when they tested their most recent(at the time of the writing)BMW 550i and are not figures for the SHO. Here's the only track video(by a major auto testing press outlet) out there for it... absolutely zero wheelspin on the SHO, so can't blame a bad launch.... 14.2 @ 99 mph 0-60 in 5.8 The Taurus weighs over 4400 lbs... it weighs roughly the same as a Mercedes S-Class(or an AWD Toyota Sienna Minivan). But has less power than an S-class.... You don't see S550's running low 13s stock. Another example is that an Audi A8(same weight as well, roughly 4400 lbs.) with a 372-hp 4.2 liter V8 is not going to be running low 13s either, its a mid-high 5s and very low 14s car like the SHO. Heck, Genesis V8 sedans turn out slightly better times.... as they should, since they weigh 400 less lbs and have 10 more hp. Last edited by 08-G35s/6MT; 03-08-2011 at 11:29 PM. |

The Camaro V6 is almost as fast as the Taurus. Camaro L99 and LS3 definitely faster.
