L99 Lifter tick carnage....

Well my Camaro has been at the dealer for two weeks getting a few things worked out. One was the spoiler paint chip. and the other is the lifters ticking.

They fixed the paint while they were waiting on the new lifters from Canada, and they informed me that they were working on the lifters today. So on my way home from work I decided to stop at the dealership and see the progress....i wish i didnt. the service manager saw my face and said, "good thing you didnt come by earlier we had it torn down all the way to the block, the tech just got the heads put back together a little while ago..." i was like In shock and awe! my poor baby!

Well anyways heres some pics. Thought i would share. It was hard seeing my girl all torn up like that. But on a lighter note, its gonna be done tomorrow and be all better.

Also on another note, when the throttle body and intake was sitting on the table right there, i looked at it and noticed a bit of oil residue on the lip of the throttle body...good thing i got my RX catch can on the way!

Later guys.

Thanks for the photos... When my car looks like that, someone else will own it... I'll never let them touch my motor........ never...

UGH!!! yeah, I don't think I would want to see that either unless we're modding something.

I'm no mechanic, but that looks like a great time for FREE supercharger installation?!

Got my ride back tonight. For the spoiler paint chip they repainted the whole decklid and installed the new grommits to keep it from rubbing.

My AC belt was was squeaking bad so they replaced that as well.

As for the lifters they replaced all the lifters. This meant taking apart the engine all the way to the block. So now the engine has all new gaskets and seals etc. Also got a free oil change out of it too lol.

Car ran fine on the way home, i really didnt test it out, because it was snowing and i had ZERO traction with those pirellis. kept fish tailing doing about 25 mph.

But im gonna start it up later after its been sitting and see if the ticking is truely gone.

what was wrong with the lifters?

also, i'm surprised they left the engine open like that in the first pic. when people install superchargers they usually tape those off to keep dust and crap from getting in there. unless they were working on it while you were there?

I have always wondered if you tune out AFM do you still have the issues associated with the lifter tick?

They would tick after it would sit for a while on startup. There was a TSB on it. GM picked up the bill on that one.

and yea the guy was working on it, he just stepped away for a minute.

Here's mine. On the garage floor right now. If anyone doubt the uses or needs of a catch can, check this out.

Yesterday morning. Tape em' up.

I got the blower on now. It's not too bad but I'd hate to get deep into the engine.
