I hope anyone who gets an automatic, doesn't believe that they can't track their car. That would be a shame. Of all the weekend warrior track days I've been to, the automatics seem to do just fine.
The 10-20 minute sessions for each group I doubt are time enough for the transmission to make a difference one way or the other. These arguments only seem to be plausible on a computer screen. Next time you're at the track, go tell an automatic guy to his face he's not a man, he should have a manual , or whatever....let us know how that works out for you. |

The new Camaro shows clearly how much "weight" was holding back the Gen 5 Camaro. I'm impressed with the new Camaro platform, I just wish I found the look as lust worthy as the previous generation or the new Mustang.

Thought it was more well known that the setup Ferrari uses is not typical. It is more race oriented then most cars have, same for Lamborghini and a few others. But, here is none other then Randy Pobst on track with a 458 and clearly using the paddles to shift himself...you can see it multiple times in the video. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KMRmLDZXRRI |

I've read it many times, and spend time with people who actually track those type of cars (unlike internet jockeys) at SCCA and NASA events. So I have first hand experience too. I could care less to spend more time searching the internet for additional videos (Randy Pobst is a fantastic driver and chooses to shift himself when times matter, hence my example) and such that prove my point to someone on an internet forum of all places. But I'll bite, attached are two snippets from reviews if that is more your thing, that state how auto mode is more so for puttering around town and backs off on some of the cars more aggressive settings...

Yup, was eyeing getting a GT350, but refused to pay absurd markups, so as of yesterday, I've ordered a Hyper Blue SS 2SS and can't wait to take it on the track!

Do all Ford dealers add ADM to the GT350? Could you not have gone to a dealer that would sell without that markup?

there are dealers that are selling at MSRP, but the majority will probably mark it up for the first few cars they get.

Going by that "other" site, it seems like nearly every dealer wants a markup of some sort unless you have a connection. Rumors are the GT350 is going to be a two year only car, that doesn't help either.

That's the sad thing about ADM...Everyone knows it's a rip-off, and it kills interest in even loyal customers willing to pay full MSRP...
Look at the Chevy Z/28s...IMO it was the ADM which kept them from selling like hot-cakes at MSRP. It soured a lot of customers and the window for quick sales and immediate interest closed very quickly, killed off by ADM... I thought Ford would have learned from the Z/28 scenario, but I guess not. |
