Mishimoto Performance Intercooler with hot and cold pipes

I’m wonder how worth it is it to have this product? Anybody have it or know more about it. How hard is the install? What’s the performance difference? Sound difference? Speed? Is the product worth the $800 plus price?

It all depends on the user, if you wanted a replacement in the original location it "might" be worth it but for 800 bucks I'd go with ZZP true front mount. Even then I'd buy an intercooler, bring it to a shop and have them create custom piping for less than 800 all together

Step 1: Is it worth it? Absolutely if you don't want to deal with a FMIC or use stock pipes until you decide to upgrade them. You won't likely notice a huge speed and power difference but you won't experience power loss from heatsoak like you do with the stock unit. The advertised power numbers seem legitimiate enough an can be increased with a tune. I think the install is pretty straight forward probably 2hrs. Max.

Step 2: (MOST IMPORTANT STEP) do not buy from them directly use a vendor they will sell them for a little over 500 save yourself the money buying from the vendor still retains the lifetime warranty.

Step 3: Contact the vendor to see if they are in stock first mishimoto jerks around the vendors like they do the regular customer on product shipping. Phastek says they have them on order but no idea when they'll be in stock.

Hope i didn't miss anything and hope that info. helps.

This. This. This.

Install (ATS, roughly same) is pretty easy and straight forward for both the Mishimoto and ZZP unit, either way you pull off the front bumper (CAREFULLY) and then everything else is pretty easy, with the only downside to the Mishimoto that it drops out the bottom which means needing to get the car a bit higher up in the air while you could just leave the stock IC in place unused and installed the ZZP FMIC.

I think the design, quality and performance of mishimoto products is pretty good for aftermarket (not perfect - the catch cans are a bit too small and located in awkard spots on the ATS and Camaro) --- but their ability to deliver their parts on time at the price they ask is a big caveat.

EDIT:

Might as well add - charging so much for their parts DOES mean Mishimoto has some very nice packaging (my intercooler was better packaged with foam and a heavy duty box than a brand new laptop I got for work) and they do stuff like this:

An intercooler is a GREAT idea. It is a very worthwhile mod. Install isn't very difficult as long as you're comfortable removing your bumper. Intercoolers don't really gain much hp, they just help you lose less of the HP you've already created via excessive heat. There wouldn't be a sound difference. A speed difference? Yeah, your car should be faster from 40mph-top speed. Remember that intercoolers aren't doing anything for you until you have air flowing through them. NO. This product is not worth the $1315 it currently costs. The ZZP intercooler is a superior design since it sits in front of the radiator and condensor. Mishi's intercooler is sandwiched between those HOT items which is not good for making power. Seriously, go with ZZP. Their product is $500 less, and actually comes with all the parts needed. Mishi doesn't include the charge pipes. You pay extra for those with Mishi. Also, Mishi has ridiculous unexplained delays. If you order an intercooler from them today, you might not see it for months, up to a year! I know I wouldn't want to wait that long for an inferior/incomplete product.
