Drag Radials Questions on the stock 18in Rim

Will these drag radials fit without any rubbing issues? I have been seen a lot of people mention the tire rubbing issues with the 305 tires. I have the stock 18in rim that I'm trying to mount these too

stock tires are 245/50/18

305s are too wide for the stock 18x8.5 wheels. I'd recommend getting some 18x11 wheels first, and then worry about trying to fit them under the wheel well.

what about a 285/40/18 on the 18in rim, Of course the rim upgrade is something that i plan on doing in the future, hopefully by the end of the year ill pick up some weld.

Those should fit. Rear wheel well can take a 315 without spacers but it's super tight.

305s on a 8.5 rim will NOT fit. I am running 20x10 in the rear and my 305s barely fit. I would not recommend going any larger than 275 on the 8.5s and that's still gonna look weird. 305s fit fine in my wheel well, could probably go 315 if I wanted, but my rim wont be able to take it without looking weird.

Still too wide on a stock 18 inch wheel.

255 is the MAX width on a 8.5 width wheel. If you want to run wider tires, you need wider wheels.

Hoosier makes a 245/40/18 version of their D.O.T Drag Radial 2. That would work best with the wheels you have. Anything else will require a different wheel size.

I guess if you're dead set on SQUEEZING a 275 on to the 8.5 wheel.... I'd go with a Mickey Thompson in that case.

275/45-18 MICKEY THOMPSON ET STREET S/S DRAG RADIAL TIRE MT 3484

Mickey Thompson's website says a 8.5 wheel is acceptable.

It's ideal to run the correct size tire on the correct size wheel. It's better to stretch the tire on the wheel, than try to cram a too big tire on. That way you have the largest possible contact patch. A lot of my friends that run 275 radial drag racing classes run their 275/60/R15 on a 12 inch wide wheel to get a better tire spread.

Oh, and avoid the Nitto NT555R if at all possible. It was a good tire option 20 years ago, but tire technology has come a LONG way since then. I ran the Nitto NT05R Drag Radials on my CTS-V Coupe in the past few years, and was very impressed with them. Excellent traction, and very stable at triple digit speeds in Mexico. I still have a pair of 19 inch NT05R's that I keep contemplating running on my SS with a hidden dry nitrous kit. Mickey Thompson, Hoosier, and M&H make the best Drag Radials currently, if you're looking to go max effort.

I remember when the Mickey Thompson Drag Radials first came out back in 2003/2004! They changed the game! My 2000 Formula Firebird worked 'ok' with NT555R's on the street, but with the ET Street Radials, it would yank the front tires a foot in the air! I won a whole bunch of street races by being an early adopter of the ET Street Radial! They paid for themselves quickly!
