So who has done an aftermarket catback already?

So if you guys hang out in the general part of the board you know that my brand new, 3 week old SS got blasted in the rear and subsequently the front. The exhaust got nailed and has to be replaced. IMO it's too damn quiet, even with the fuse pull. It's like $2k from GM so I "may" ask the body shop to use that money and get me a different exhaust. I want to keep the AFM valves for now as I don't see me ditching that quiet yet.

I saw that Stainless Works has a cat back...what are you guys running? I doubt I'll get too many answers at our cars are so new and a lot of stock.

So what are you running and how do you like it?

Thanks guys!

I'm running a Borla ATAK cat-back set up and love every bit of it. With their x-pipe and ATAK axleback, you get a louder and meaner roar without sacrificing the quietness of the "tour/stealth" mode, which I'm sure my neighbors are thankful for.

Wouldn't trade it for anything else... well, I might get their off-road mid pipe that deletes the secondary cats in the near future, but otherwise it is a bitchin set up.

and it retains both AFM and NPP functionality.

Working on a comprehensive guide for exhaust options. Been harder than I planned to get a lot of them recorded. But check out what I have gotten done so far here: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=459082

Also just updated my Stainless Works catback to have Cat's now, so here si the brief video of how that sounds.

jump to 39 sec's for sound.

I would go with the Borla as well. The atak will give you a throatier sound compared to stock. I think it sounds pretty mean and in a good way!

I did SW headers/high flow cats/x-pipe/afm valves into the NPP muffler. Pretty sweet setup and much louder than stock. You're gonna need to make your own NPP fuse controller for around $30 so you have full control over the NPP valves. Otherwise they will always close when up to speed, even in race mode, and they take quite a bit of throttle to reopen.

I really like the aFe designed system to replace the NPP exhaust if you aren't looking at headers. The aFe seems like the best of both worlds. No muffler with valves open and quiet when closed. I've heard borla isn't much louder than stock NPP and SW mufflers are barely quieter with the valves closed. Not worth it to me

Can you give more details on what needs to be done to do this? I couldn't find your original post with this info...

Thanks!

I am going to install the x-pipe setup from Borla this weekend. I am curious how much it changes the sound from just the axleback.

You can learn about it in the link on that thread to the corvette forum. I originally wired mine in a similar way until camarorick found a ground in the fuse box so it's all contained in the fuse box now and can be completely removed in less than a minute.

So skip to post #16 in the link above to see how to actually wire it easily on the camaro thanks to camarorick. Once installed, just set the exhaust to stealth mode on the dash and use the remote or home link buttons to control the NPP valves. You really just need four parts:

Heavy Duty Universal Remote Control Kit
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ZRW78Q..._Y3eKxb24PC4S6

Lumision FAST SHIPPING* ADD-A-CIRCUIT ATR MICRO2 FUSE-TAP Add ON DUAL CIRCUIT ADAPTER AUTO CAR TERMINAL + 5 AMP Fuse https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OZGA8O8..._-5eKxbHD9SWAS

100PCS Blue Male Insulated Spade Electrical Wire Crimp Terminal Connector Free Shipping https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G9WTOOG..._h8eKxb0GXZF4H

Not sure if that male connector is the right size though

And you need a wire crimp connector or some other way to connect two wires together

You can also buy a pre-made kit if this seems too difficult(it's super easy though): http://www.forzacomponenti.com/exhau...troller_c.html
It's $80 though and you only get one remote and it can't be hidden under the fuse box cover. I already accidentally washed one of my remotes in my jeans, oops
