Stock 2.0t 1/4 mile hero run attempt.

https://youtu.be/FSGJxlwGwsQ

Video of the run. Not the best, but it's what I have. Also ran a 13.56, blew the tires off again running a 15.x, then decided to try taking off in 2nd gear so there would be no traction issues and ran a 13.77 @ 98

My local track elevation is 1410, but the air here usually sucks.. The DA was 2081 for the hero run.

According to the drag times da calculator it corrects to:
Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
13.346 @ 101.524 MPH

Yes, I feel come spring time we may start seeing more people coming out of the wood works taking their car to the track. Those that want to go quick definitely can with with a little money. In an all out drag out, the fat wallet guys will come out on top, but those that drive well and are resourceful will also have a good chance of being competitive. I tend to think I fall into that cheap ass resourceful crowd

So now onto the meat and potatoes that I didn't get into yesterday...

I did not remove 216lbs FROM THE CAR... That number was the amount of weight I removed from the car from when I made my 14.02 run... When I made the 14.02 I was about 100lbs over weight of what I should have been when I went out last time.

JUST FROM THE CAR I removed about 116 lbs...
Wheels, I swapped on some Race Star 17x4.5 front skinnies w/ M&H 185/55/17 tires. These were about 28.2lbs EACH lighter than the stock 20" wheels
On the rear I used my stock 2008 G8 GT wheels, I believe they are 18x8 and have worn out Good Year Eagle F1 Supercar 255/45/18 tires. When I say worn out, they have maybe 20% tread left at best. These weighed about 10lbs EACH lighter than the stock wheels.
Wheel/tire weight reduction, 76.4lbs total

Battery, I swapped in a Big Crank EXT30L battery (Supposedly just a rebranded Braille B3121)... This battery weighed 23.2lbs less than the stock battery

Rear seat removal, I decided to remove the rear seat, doing that took 16.4lbs off the car.

And that's all that was removed from THE CAR... The rest of the weight removed was Fuel, appx 1/2 tank less from when I went out last time, about 60lbs worth... And 40 lbs of crap in the trunk and the back seat.

That said, If I had gone out last time with out the 100lbs of extra fuel and crap in the car, I believe a 13.9 bone stock could be achieved. Maybe even high 13.8x with a good driver and great track prep and weather...

Something else that was achieved by swapping the rear wheels/tires... The tires I ran for the night were .7" shorter than the stock sized, which made the rear gear ACT (fudged) like a 3.354 ratio (compared to 3.27 stock)... I'm sure this may have helped just a little, it's not a huge change only about 3% difference, but none the less, it probably didn't hurt me.

What's next? Mods over the winter, shooting for 12s, which should be easily attained...

Oh, and another experiment I tried... I launched in 2nd gear on the final pass because I wanted to see what it would do and guarantee I would not blow the tires off again...

Taking off in second, I ran a 13.77 @ 98.x

This may come in handy for future bracket racing on crap street tires. I'm too cheap to blow 5-600 bucks on drag radials I'll only use a few times a year.

I'm digging around in other vehicles hoping to find an lsd carrier or diff swap... I doubt I'll find anything, but I'm hopeful.

I've had the race star skinnies floating around for a couple years now, but didn't have matching rears. May have to invest in some down the road.

Holy crow that's a fast run! Mad props Jason! Only 1 1/2 seconds left to go and you'll be into the the fast V8 times

I'm hoping for a 13.9 or better next year myself bone stock with the M6... We shall see; any idea what gear you went through the traps in/ approximate rpm?

5th maybe? I don't really pay attention and just let it do its thing. If I check the tune it will show me based off of the mph.

I suspect with an m6 you can probably get by in 3rd, but might have to shift into 4th

*EDIT* the 4>5 upshift happens at 81mph at full throttle, so I was in 5th gear when crossing the line. Math tells me I was approximately 5120 RPMs in 5th crossing the line at 100.65 mph...

The 5>6 upshift happens at 109mph for future reference.

Very cool. Those are great results.

How difficult was it to remove the backseat? Haven't had a chance to take a look into it yet.

We have planned on taking the car to the track to get a nice baseline before we start to play with it. I have a few pairs of drag radials sitting around the garage on Corvette wheels for my Corvette. I am going to have to see if those will mount up and work ok.

Might have to do with you having smaller wheels on the car but when I ran mine down the track with the stock 20's it comes with I was at the top of 4th gear around 5-5500 rpm crossing the line at about 95-96 mph.

The back seat came out really easy... took just a few minutes... However, I think it might be a pain in the ass getting it back in... I haven't tried yet.

I imagine the corvette wheels might fit depending on what they are? I have some 18x9.5 +40 Grand Sport wheels that fit the G8... The G8 wheels fit the camaro... I suspect my GS wheels would also fit the Camaro... however, come to find out, the GS vette wheels are 3lb each heavier than the G8 wheels, so I'll stick with them, untill I break down and buy something really light weight.
