Is a catch can recommended for the ZL-1?
Is a catch can recommended on this engine? I read that they are pretty good on naturally aspirated direct injection engines, but on a blower equipped engine, will they even work?
Thanks. Mark R. Albuquerque, NM |

I wouldn’t rely on a catch can manufacturer to give me the answer. It will always be yes.

The Pcv appears to be vented in oem plastic type catch can is this not correct? I have used elite on all others engines with positive results. Ls3 lt1 5.3 etc

The catch can debate has been beaten to death on this forum. I recommend you use the search function to do some research. But the short answer is usuallly yes.

Beware that adding a catch can to the LT4 is a little more involved than the LT1 and LS engines. Some serious modifications have to be made to the engine.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...KnvSdkJj4/edit http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/c...atch%20Can.pdf With these modifications comes the risk of having your powertrain warranty voided by GM. I asked a similar question shortly after I got my ZL1 and those that responded had no plans to add a catch can. To date there's no catch can on my ZL1 despite having installed one on my previous two Camaros. http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=474309

So how does one handle the obvious build up of gunk on the intake tract of these engines? Is it down to periodic cleaning, and or the SeaFoam voodoo?

Lol no offense but this is a crock. I don’t recall a single thread of late coming up pertaining to the LT4 ZL1 about catch cans. Always nice when members snub a newer member for little reason. You didn’t have to click on the thread nor write that reply. No one needs to be told to do a search when they asked a question to an audience who may actually know what they’re talking about. If you don’t, move along and don’t bother.
