Surprised by GREAT experience at local dealer

- brought the beast in to local chevy dealer( I didn't buy the car from them, and they cud not care less)...
had to fix the clicking noise and get 1st oil change...
dropped da beast off at 9 am- they called at 11 and said it was ready.
- picked the car up..they hand washed it...and no drama. Problem fixed..
I'm posting this because I was fully expecting "drama" of some sort...
a dent(heaven forbid)..joy riding..something..
- I guess some dealers still have some "pride"-
congrats to CHEVY for building an amazing car! (albeit with some known fixable quirks..lol

My local dealer is good too. You only hear about the bad experiences. Stupid forums!

That's cool that they did their jobs without drama. But I would NOT be happy if the dealer washed my car. I bet you have a bunch more swirls in the paint now.

I had them make a note in my "file" to never wash the car. Every time I go in I make sure they don't wash it. They always comment, "smart move by you and the corvette guys." Lol.

YIKES- i hadn't thought of that..i did ask if it was hand washed..they don't have car wash machine there...i didnt ask for a wash...would have been fine without one..
- how would one get swirls with a hand washing??

perhaps with a wax- there would be some swirls..but i just looked(again)..other than drying the car with a dirty cloth...no swirls..lol

I did the same and got the same response. Pretty funny.

There is a 2 week 1000 mechanic strike in the Chicago area, can't even get service if needed from most GM dealers right now. It's good you are happy and yes Chevy did awesome on ZL1.

There are many variables that could cause your paint to get swirls which is why most choose to only wash themselves keeping everything controlled lessening the chances of it happening. I am very particular when it comes to washing my car (two bucket method, foam cannon, high quality soap and micro fibers) with all that I have still managed to get some scratches and swirling on my car I believe it is almost impossible to avoid if you are washing it regularly. Machine wash obviously a big no no and imo young kid dealer hand wash is potentially just as bad.

Basically comes down to the equipment and method they're using. Where I live its basically impossible not to end up with some amount of swirls when drying because its always windy and dirty/sandy here. I can look at my paint wrong and see swirls develop its that sensitive.

Just the other day I had to shake my head driving by a dealership. It was after a rainstorm the night before and the dealer had a couple younger guys with a couple towels going from car to car wiping them down. No rinsing the cars first or anything just dry towel to car and drying in circles. Can't imagine how bad each of the cars paint looked after.

I use a local touch less car wash and wash it 3 times a week lol. It stays nice and no swirl marks. My car is silver and that helps a lot! Dark colors are brutal.
