OP clearly isn't inquiring about a Toyota/truck. FJ cruiser has the highest resale last I heard, in that regard.

Unless you got ripped off initially, more like about $4-5k actually. I've bought and traded many cars over the years.
No offense but the other poster was right basically as soon as you buy a car like this and drive it off the lot you're leaving 10k behind. Now you may have flipped cars back in really fast at previous times to lose only 5K but the dealership made the other money off of you on the new car. Camaros do not hold their value well I've always known this I'm surprised everybody doesn't realize it you buy these cars for the looks and the fun that you're going to have with it. And then you get your value in use. As for the original question if you want to save money buy a used vehicle if you want to get what you want buy It brand new and even Factory order if you want but be prepared to lose money. it's not an investment it is an expense. And if you buy the Corvette I imagine it's already taken a big hit since it's used and people assumed the Corvette would be worth more than the Camaro. It would probably have better resale value in a few years also. I would be willing to bet dollars to Donuts that if they make a 7th Gen Camaro the pricing will be closer to the 5th than the 6 gen. These new ones are kind of priced a little too high for the average historical Camaro purchaser

If you don't need back seats, and you can daily a Corvette, then get the Corvette.

If its a tie between Gen6 and C7 then go with C7.

This has never been the case with my experience. A generalized statement of "10k" is definitely on the high. There are several factors in what you will actually lose. We all know cars are rarely an investment.

I work a great price on my new cars as well. I have always negotiated my trade and new car separately.

I do agree buying slightly used is the way to go however as that's what I did with my current camaro ss.

also something to think about. A used Corvette probably sees a less hard life than a used camaro. i base this entirely on my own stereotype of a corvette owner, who is old and has the car for looks rather than taking advantage of the performance.

Then again, a 2ss new is probably beyond the financial ability of almost all young people too, so might luck out there too unless you're considering an ex-rental.

this whole thread is about making a "bad financial decision". resale value is not extremely important. its just nice to have. I am daily driving a 2010 corvette right now. I don't think that thing is holding up its value! just want to sell it before it starts to show its age.

I would never buy a rental car. especially a rental sports car. those cars have very hard lives, especially in the beginning. look up "rental corvette" or "rental camaro" on youtube. there are videos of people just trashing them.

but I currently daily drive a 2010 corvette, and I drive it just as hard as my previous 2010 camaro. I think it all depends on the previous owners. the corvette has been MUCH more reliable though. my old camaro had the transmission rebuilt 3 times maybe.

You can get a 2SS for mid to upper 30s. That's the car for me just waiting for it. If Miami wasn't so damn far away I'd get that gray one this weekend.

What's the hurry for "bad financial decision "

It's a new job, sleep on all the ideas for couple of months before pulling any trigger?

IDK, but i bought my 1SS MSRP $39K for only $32400, plus all fees and tax. Seen them having 2SS for like $37k and base C7 for $45k+

Got my 2SS out of a high-volume dealer in Kentucky for 37k as well. Had to expand my search on cars.com to a 250 mile range. Then their inventory popped up. I was looking at a used '16 with 1400 miles for 1k less and another used 16 for 35k with 14k miles on it. Said hell with it and drove 3 hours and bought the '17 with 10 miles on it.

I own both cars, and they're both fun and well made cars! Its going to be more about function, so I think only you can decide! The c7 is a razor blade on the road, sharp, precise and fast. The ss is 7/10ths of all that the C7 is (and the same or better in some areas like interior, DIC..), with added practicality.
