I think the new Z/28 (if there is one) should be a stripped down track car that is offered with an optional "put all the comfort stuff back in the car" package. Get rid of the expensive carbon ceramic brakes and multimatic dampers that drove the price up, and offer it for less than the ZL1 in it's base form. If people want to option it up, they can pay a bit extra. If they want to track it exclusively, they can just order the base.
Agreed. IMO they should follow what Ford did with the GT350R. IF you want the bare bones no accessories you can get it that way. Or you can get 1 option package that has all the bells and whistles

Those tires do not look like Trofeo R's.

If GM limits the Z/28 to say...1,000 a year and includes the DSSV dampers again, the CCB's, etc..not only will the MSRP be high again, but so will ADM's. Building only to order is a sure fire way to keep prices very high as well.

The Z/28 was a spectacularly performing car that was an equally spectacular sales flop. If GM follows the same pattern as the first one, this car will sit on lots too.
I have a feeling this one will be cheaper. The LS7 and CCBs were big chunks of the price. The LTx is bringing more performance for cheaper. The newer brakes are giving them the performance they need, saving the costs of CCBs. The chassis is already lighter, so light weighting won't be as necessary. The issue comes down to content. GM probably will let you option stuff back into the car, which should help sales.

The 5thgen Z/28 lost a lot of content due to the fact that it had to lose weight to be what it was, a true track demon on the Holden chassis.
The new 6thgen Z/28 will not have to be as decontented for weight purposes due to Alpha's lower mass platform.

This thing will be epic.

GM trademarked the LT5 a few years ago. I wonder if that could be a 7.0L DI motor for a Z/28. Has team Camaro ever introduced a new motor before? I feel like new engines always went to the Vette first.

I got to believe this will be available mid 2017, why? GM won't miss having a 50th Z/28.

I agree they'll follow the GT350R in packaging the car.

My guess is the Z28 will come will a smaller crank, bigger cam and better heads version of the LT1 like the original 302. It will have a 7,500-8,000 rpm redline and be track ready with carbon fiber wheels and lots of aero dynamic down force.

GM if your listening do me one. Put Nav n rear camera as standard in it. Option for rear seat removal. Don't add any other creature comfort to it like heated seats. Use iron two piece rotors to keep cost done. Use a uniques engine like the 302DZ motor from the Trans Am days (some forget the Z/28 had its own engine before). Put ever cooler possible on it so no overheating problems. Manual only. Everything that was design to add downforce be standard (didn't like having the wickerbill as an add on). Use 200 tread wear tires as standard with option for race tires. Use the MRC with custom Z/28 spring rates. Make sure whoever builds it check over the car multiple times!! (The Z/28 I bought had parts missing form the factory). Don't make the price more than 60K with every option available.

Signed a Camaro guy.

2015 Z/28 Camaro (broke down on me while moving from Texas to Ga)

Ps. I should get a discount for my troubles with the 2015 Z/28 lol

Well, since you have no inside info, what is your guess regarding Chevy's plans for the Z/28? Are they going to build one? Are these photos of it being tested? What will it's main features and characteristics be? What engine?????

Welcome to Camaro5/Camaro6.

It's free to enter, the beer's cold, and the rumors are one more fantastic than the next.

Of course...we all said there's no way they'd put an eLSD in the 1LE....or that an A10 transmission was an impossibility for the ZL1. Look where we got dismissing those rumors.

We love our 'Z' cars, here...
