2K difference!? I highly doubt that. Plus once you tune a SRT the warranty is gone. I'm not saying the SRT isnt faster than a GT and SS mod for mod because it might be but I think the GT and SS is certainly much cheaper mod for mod and option for option.

Yep, once you load out an SS or GT to SRT levels they are at or over 40k. As for mods, any will lose their warranty with a tune, wasn't my point, just that if you are going to do it, the SRT will be at or ahead of the others, more than likely ahead, that is mod for mod, not $$$ for $$$$ btw because Mopars always have been and probably always will be more expnsive to mod.

I think you are right the difference will be a little more than 2k, after shopping hard I picked up my 12 SRT8 for 45k fully loaded, I think a fully loaded SS would be 40k if shopped.

Now that tuning is out for the SRT8 you will see 11-sec tune and tire only passes, the problem with the automatic cars was stock tuning would pull timing at any launch over 1000 rpms, bump that up a little to 1500 and set the shift points a tad higher (my car shifts at 5800 now) and the car will run 11s.

I don't need some consumer reports telling me they don't like the looks of something, just like I think its stupid for people to use looks as an argument factor. If I think the SRT8 looks better than the camaro, thats a personal decision- you can't argue with me that no in fact the camaro is better looking... (even though to me for example, the camaro is...) Functionally, whats wrong with the "cheap plastic interior"? Its perfect. it does what its supposed to. It sits there pointlessly, just covering up the cords and metals, and offering you a place to store your drink, which I don't drink when I drive anyway...

I dont care about the interior. Never have on any car I've owned. Why would I care about the interior? I don't pet my car, I drive it. I wouldn't pay $10 for a better interior. I'd probably take $10 to give me the interior out of a 90s camaro.

thats why I will never go "luxury". I have friends buying their G8 GXPs and their BMW M5s, spouting "luxury and performance". Luxury to me is equivalent to saying "waste money". I don't want to pay for a better interior. I don't want to pay for more BS comforts. My only complaint about the camaro interior is that the stupid navigation requires a freaking subscription...

Rant off!
Not a rant, but a very well spoken position and opinion.

I was curious about the whole 2k difference so I did some checking and I don't know what Stew was talking about. The SRT with no added options and stripe delete is 45,520. A 2SS/RS is 37,885. Add 1LE package to that and its 41,385. A similarly equipped premium GT with track pack is 40,680. Hell you can even get a BOSS with Recaro seats for 44,990. I don't know about anyone else but if I was shopping for a manual trans car the SRT would be last on my list because the 1LE, GT with track pack and BOSS look like better values. If I were shopping for a automatic the SRT looks good only if your not going to mod it otherwise the GT and SS look like a way better deal for what you get. Just my .02 cents.

Hmmm, the prices I came up with edmunds were higher for the SS and GT. Anyways, I still don't get our whole mod thing. Yes, cost are going to cost a little more on the SRT, but stock for stock, or modded for modded, it should still be quicker. I seriously doubt you will any tune/tire SSes in the 11for example. Also keep in mind for the extra price of the SRT you get a few things not even available on the SS or GT such as the Bilstein 3 mode suspension, pushbottun start, etc, etc, plus that extra seat and room to actually hold people in the rear set. Value is all in what you want and need in a car and the SRT easily slots in it's price range. It falls between the SS/GT and GT500/ZL1 in price and performance.
