I have the GFB, pretty simple to use but I believe the eboost2 is more capable. But depending on your needs, the GFB might be fine for you

What all is there to a boost controller? Isn't it just to raise or lower boost? What kinds of other features are out there?

Most matter of factly, yes, to "set" max boost level. It also controls how fast (ramping) up of the boost, controls any overshooting of it, and overboost protection. The most simple is the AEM TruBoost. If you're not looking for bell and whistles, this is the one. The gfb and eboost2 are the bells and whistles, but really don't do much in usability else as the AEM, unless you have an A6 and you can use the boost by gear feature. There are also integrated controllers that are boost controller and widebands (integrated functions in one package - nice).

The AEM has no closed loop feedback adjustment to the boost level you set. If you set it at 35% duty cycle, it just puts out a flat 35% DC. The problem with that is in order to hold a flat boost level throughout the RPM band, the DC would have to ramp up slightly towards redline. A flat 35% would likely drop a couple psi.

The better boost controllers when set at 35% DC will monitor the boost output and if it starts to change, with instantly adjust DC to hold the flat boost level. Closed loop feedback adjustment.

I’m putting an E boost 2 on my car right now. It seems like it has a lot of bells and whistles I very well may not even need but they are still nice to have.

I run the Cortex EBC. https://sirhclabs.com/
It has boost vs. RPM vs. MPH vs. gear vs. throttle position. The new CAN Bus interface for RPM and MPH is the ticket. I am currently only using boost vs. RPM and it has worked great on controlling power output on true street tires. I am working on dialing in the boost vs. MPH.

It also has 2 programmable outputs which can be used to control nitrous/meth/LEDs/etc.

I 3d printed a vent pod to house it.

If that product performs, it's long overdue there was a sensibly priced unit that could do all that.

Should be a big seller.
