I was fortunate enough that my GM repurchase rep agrees that they should not add any dealer additions and will deny any compensation they seek as a result of unauthorized additions. Now I get to play the waiting game as my vehicle is still status 1100.

I had the dealer remove the $400 tint charge, I told them I was planning on putting on ceramic tint, made it non-negotiable.

Follow in question for me.
So the dealer put in my order for a lemon collateral swap and has gone silent. No returned calls and is a huge pain to get a hold of. I even discovered that my GM repurchase rep has had a hard time getting a hold of them too and had to escalate to their gm to even get some sort of reply. Now I'm worried that they will receive the car and decide to not give it to me and sell it to someone else. Can they do that? Is there anything I can do to make them more responsive? Obviously I will not buy a vehicle from them in the future but I am a bit stuck for now. |

I have once at 11am and they happened to not come in until 2pm that day. I tried again the next day at 2pm and they were "busy helping another customer" and I couldn't wait around. Unfortunately my work hours overlap with the sales work hours so it is easier for me to try to communicate over phone/email... and they would respond right away before they found out the sale was going to GM and not directly to me which I guess results in no commission.

Car was built and I am waiting on an offer letter from GM for the final numbers. During the post delivery they ignored my request for no addons and put on the $700 tint, $600 alarm, and $700 "vinyl protection"....but my last correspondence with GM said they would not approve the cost for any additions. I'm really curious to see what happens now when GM refuses to pay for them. I feel like I am going to get shafted with either having to pay for them out of pocket or they will refuse to give me the car they built for me.

I called GM and they gave the 'ol "Dealers are Independent Contractors and GM has no Control"...blah, blah blah. I walked from that car and found a Dealer who appreciated my hard earned money. I'll probably not purchase another new GM product after this, (after 40 years and 8 new vehicles), as GM Customer Service doesn't give a Hoot about how badly some Dealers treat their Customers. But they sure like that 10's of thousands of Dollars Customers pay them. I'm now looking at the new Dodge Rams and Hellcat SRT's after this. I hate liers and cheats. |

But I can guarantee you, from experience, there are weasels everywhere. FCA and Ford wouldn't do a damn thing either. If you aren't a first-class, lying weasel, you probably won't last long in the car business. (I'm a reformed weasel) Conscience kicked in when I met people face to face, who I just reamed the f out of (normal dealer operation). They were nice, smiling, and kind, and I felt so guilty. Could have made millions, was working for Autonation founder and now retired CEO. He taught me there's no room for honesty at a dealership. pinhead - take it or leave it? Right thing to run away, as you did. Don't hate GM, they all suck, in integrity (lack of)

I do understand you are in a different situation, Miketan, but this was my latest experience...
When it was time for the paperwork, I was asked "I'm guessing you don't want any extras like extended warranty or anything?" Of course I said no. Easiest time I've ever had going through that portion of the sale. They tried charging $299 for glass etching that my wife nor I asked for. Told them I wasn't paying for it. They told me it was part of the "dealer fees you were told about." I then showed the paperwork that was agreed on with my signature as well as the sales manager's. I said "what fees?" It was only the price of the car minus my supplier discount. It said nothing about add-ons. I ultimately won that battle.

I really enjoyed dealing with a dealership that does not even add crap to the cars in the 1st place.

Another update for anyone interested.
Still working on the numbers but GM will not pay for them as per a few calls I had with them. But the worst thing is that if I refuse to pay for them than the dealer has the option to tell me to piss off and the car that was built for me will get sold to someone else and I would have to switch dealerships and try again. Would end up probably probably having to get yet another car built and wait another 12 weeks before risking the same thing happening unless I say f*ck it and pay for their add-ons. Oh on top of this the dealership is also saying I HAVE to finance through them...and again if I refuse I risk them selling my car and having to start over somewhere else. There are about 20,000 people at my job site that all earn enough to afford nice cars and you bet your a*s I will make sure every single person I meet knows to avoid this dealership if they are looking. 0/10 would not recommend. Edit: If anyone can suggest how to find local dealerships that do NOT do this... that would be great Or do I have to just call all of them and ask "Hey, do you put $1500 in dealer addon's to all your vehicles?"
