Downforce Extrapolations .... please confirm

so here's the only info i can find on Downforce for the car

100 lbs @ 125mph"

If someone can confirm this that would be great

we also know the ZL1 1LE produces 300 lbs @ 150mph

using the Lift Equation and knowing that we are talking about the same airfoils at different speeds... I used basic algebra to come up with a range of speeds...

ZL1 1LE

300# @ 150mph

208# @ 125mph

130# @ 100mph

48# @ 60 mph

SS 1LE

144# @ 150mph

100# @ 125mph

64# @ 100 mph

23# @ 60 mph

so roughly half of the ZL1 1LE.

here's the equation.... ( I don't believe it's really needed since everything else cancels out when comparing the same wing... we are left with how donwforce multiplies by the square of speed)

L = (1/2) d v2 s CL

L = Lift, which must equal the airplane's weight in pounds
d = density of the air. This will change due to altitude. These values can be found in a I.C.A.O. Standard Atmosphere Table.
v = velocity of an aircraft expressed in feet per second
s = the wing area of an aircraft in square feet
CL = Coefficient of lift , which is de

Source? I see one other post on this forum that's also not sourced, but it was talking about the wicker bill being added to the spoiler, not the spoiler itself.

Motor Trend claims that the ZL1 1LE is 300 pounds at 155 MPH

I would be great if we had a CFD guru that could model the cars as stock, then with a big front splitter with end plates and a something like an APR GT-250 out back. The comparison vs. the ZL1 1LE figures would be fascinating.

That it is DOWNforce nowadays is a big improvement, it used to be hundreds of pounds of lift.

I k ow a guy how does that for F1 teams... but the modelling would cost $500+ for basic modelling and $1500 for full CFD

The ZL1 1LE number should be 133 lbs of downforce at 100 mph, but otherwise, your numbers are correct. The HP required at each speed is the cube of the speed difference.
