I had forgot about the fact that the 6th gear ratio is changed until it was mentioned in his video. The MJK TR6060 in the regular ZL1 has a 0.54 6th. The MH3 in the ZL1 1LE (A1Z) is 0.68. Between that and the shorter tires, it'd be like sticking a 4.79 (!!!) gear ratio in a regular ZL1.

Not that fuel economy is a big concern with someone buying any ZL1, but, you are turning ~28% more rpm's in 6th with the MH3 trans. Add the stickier, wider tires, and the aero...

If you want a good honest review on an American made product, the Smoking Gun is not the usual place to find it. This guy is usually all about Fake News.

I find them to be spot-on about 90% of the time. Taking a ZL1 1LE on the road is kind of like testing a Raptor on the track . . . it's out of its element (Donny).

Maybe Chevy had the wrong bass player or something.

His preference was the GT350R because of the N/A and high rev, I can respect that decision.

My guess is yes, as the rear tires are 325's. I doubt they want the tires bulging out.
Different than the standard ZL1?

In the end, this is all completely subjective. Go with what you like or what calls to your soul. He said the 350R called to him. In other words, his soul. When I see and drive my ZL1 1LE, I know I made the right decision as it appeals to my soul. Yes, it has some compromises to my former BMW M4. However, I have zero regrets converting because I know this car was me and an extension of my personality. I also am a former owner of a 2011 Shelby GT500. Yes, that car was awesome in its time. At that time, it called out to me. Point is, everyone has a car that calls out to them at any given time. Go with that gut feeling and you will never go wrong.

This, this, and more THIS. The only times I have ever regretted buying (or selling) a particular car was when I let myself be ruled strictly by logic or vanity. When I buy something that calls to me, I am invariably happy every time I go for a drive.

I actually felt he was quite positive regarding the ZL1/1LE...and then he broke into a Ford commercial.

At least he didn't bang on the dash this time like an Ape complaining about hard plastic.

Hah! That was one of the first things I did to demonstrate the difference between my BMW and this car. He's not wrong.

Kinda late getting to this video. Matt says the ZL1 1LE didn't stir his soul but right after that, he winds up the supercharger and starts giggling as he launches into triple digit speed and says one could get into a lot of trouble with this car which has 125 more hp than the ford. That type of reaction is soul stirring for most of us. The ZL1 1LE was designed and tuned to go fast on a track and he admits would probably beat the mustang at the track. The touring version of this beast is a ZL1 Matt if you'd like a better ride. Let's race 'em!!
