I'll correct you sir. Those of us here who elect to break in an engine differently than what is suggested in the owners manual do so for reasons that we find more compelling than "the owners manual says so" and need not be labeled as "trolls" for suggesting alternatives. Your GM engineers who you elect to follow prescribe a break in period of 1500 miles for an LT4 in a ZL1 and only 500 when that same motor is delivered in a Z06. That doesn't seem highly unusual to you? It certainly should and give you a good idea of how arbitrary this break in stuff is. Break your car in for a lifetime if you like, I could care less. Please don't label those of us who find reason to do otherwise as foolish, we are anything but that Pal.

Maybe you should research a little more. The LT4 in the Z06 is dry sump, the ZL1 is not.

Just trying to make sure people realize that there is an alternative.

I hope you do realize there are other components to the drive train than just the engine.

Oh really? Research?

Thanks but no thanks for the enlightenment. I owned a C7 Z06 and am quite well aware of the oil reservoir configurations of the LT4 in both applications.

Is that something else you learned in your owners manual? Why don't you tell us "trolls" all about it.

Yup I did about the same as you at 500 miles but then only made it to about 1000 miles before I gave up on the break in thing and just let loose. It's been game on ever since! Have about 1200 miles now and loving every mile of it!

The thing is GM has offered to stand behind their break in procedure with a warranty, are you willing to offer a warranty for anyone who follows your recommended procedure?
The Z06 motor and the ZL1 motor come from different places, not the same motor.

OMG, seriously?

Do all bottles of Budweiser come from the same place? Do all diamonds come from the same mine? Are all Big Macs cooked on the same grill? Jeezus. I could care less how you "break-in" your LT4. I know how I drove my Z06 from new and how it will be with my ZL1. 1500 mile "break-in", get real. There are others here who don't follow the suggested parameters in the almighty manual either, guess we are crazy or stupid. We told you how we do it.
