New UK owner checking in - Page 5

I picked mine up on Christmas eve, with big thanks to Craig for getting it all sorted.

I got my reg plate through about 4 days previous, there's regional offices for issuing plate numbers and then the V5 application has to go off to Swansea I think, but it only needs to be received, not actually processed.

This thread actually sparked my interest and I took a look at th Chevy UK website. There I saw this photo of a split screen on the mylink system. I never saw this before and was wondering if your European versions actually have this.

That's not a screen that I am familiar with, but perhaps I just haven't found that feature. I haven't registered for MyLink yet.

Interesting. We don't register for it. It's what Chevy names their infotainment system. Perhaps it's different for you?

It's what they call it here too, I think perhaps my neighbour UK Camaro is thinking of Onstar instead. Having said that I haven't seen that screen either but then I look at the Nav directions in my heads up display and not on the screen, that way I don't have to take my eyes off the road.

Guys as there are a few of us now, well four but more to come I'm sure, I'm wondering should we start a UK Camaro Owners Thread? Anyone know how to do that and make it sticky?

Do I qualify- I don't own one but drive one regularly!!
I have tried to get ours to do the split screen, but don't think it's available for Euro cars.

If is not too much to ask, can one of you guys take a picture of the gas filler area? I want to know if the U.K. cars have the fuel door lock. My BMW had it so I don't know if it is a requirement for U.K. cars.

don't have a pic to hand, but I can confirm that you can't open the filler door when the car is locked... but it does look like fairly flimsy plastic so you could probably prise it open but not without causing fairly significant damage

That's pretty good. Now I have to google the part to see if I can retrofit it to my car. I'm not wasting $200 on the Camaro fuel door until I can lock it. Thx for the info.

Looking at a US Owners Manual it looks like UK cars have the same fuel door and refuelling arrangement. Push the fuel door on the rearward edge to open it. No fuel cap but a spring loaded flap to accept the pump nozzle.

Quick question on insurance (for UK guys) who did you use and did they require a tracker? (My last one did )?

Don't have mine yet but I'll be using Adrian Flux as they were great with my old s197. Didn't need a tracker then so I'd be surprised. They also offer discounts for using certain dashcams so that's worth looking at.
