There are many ways they could have got the car started but the most common among car jackers is as simple as a key fob. They will sit behind a car and when you go to lock your car with your own key fob they can copy the signal and use it to start your car. It's the easiest way to get in.

Best regards,

All the electronics in the modern vehicles are great but sometimes we pay a price for the convenience, The scumbags will always find a way.

A variety of way from cloning when you use your fob, getting the vin and cloning a key, disable the alarm, gain access, program new key. Disable alarm, pop the door lock , break ignition, install hacked ecm. Once they are in, onstar disconnect is a few seconds.
Gotta go old school kill switch and/or a gps tracker(new school).

Someone needs to PM me a good place where these kill switches should go on our car, I just got a quote for $100 for a kill switch install.

obviously then if they want to steal it, there is no protection. an old school kill switch within reach of drivers seat will be a breeze to overcome
