Also, if you have coverage for a rental, and don't use it, you can add that "rental savings" to your settlement number....If you use a rental as part of your claim, they will try and subtract it from the settlement number....

Don't be unrealistically high, but don't go low either....Good luck.
Do I need to stick to 2010 model year or I can show them a 2011 with same mileage or value ?

They will low ball you- LOL
There's so much misinformation here. This is not the 1960's. Back in the day
insurance companies could pretty much do what they wanted. Today most all
claim settlements are regulated by your State's insurance laws and regulations.
if you want to see what your car is worth look up the retail value in the N.A.D.A
Official Used Car Guide. (not the Blue or Black books). You can also go on line
to EbayMotors where you can find dozens of cars with ASKING prices with the
year and options your car had. Print these out so you can discuss the value of
your car in case your insurance company offers you a lot less than the fair
market value for your Camaro that you have found from the above sources.
Good luck with your theft loss claim.

You will need to stick with the same year, make & model with roughly the same mileage as yours was.

Your right I missed that. But I would think they also have regulations and guidelines
for their insurance industry the same as here. If I'm wrong someone let me know.

Car insurance here in Quebec Canada are really different that the rest of North America. No fault..premiums paid to our registrations incase of personal injury to someone. We cannot sue the party involved. But when it comes to theft and collision I think we are still kinda old school

Interesting. Back in the 70's there were little or no insurance regulations on
insurance companies. They would settle Total Losses by offering a settlement
based on NADA wholesale, no tax. If accepted, that would be it. Many poor or
uneducated people would sign the papers and a payment would be made. If
the vehicle owner was educated &/or smart they would refuse until a fair offer
was made. This is one reason the insurance industry continues to have such
a poor reputation today. I would hope Canada would not tolerate such poor
claim practices today by the Canadian insurance companies.

For myself and a couple of friends, the value paid by the insurance company was quite reasonable. Just in case, have a look at autotrader and get the value of 3 similar cars, then provide receipts of any non-performance mods for added value.

Better than nothing, which if you check the fine print of many policies, is what you would usually get.
