2016 2.0T VS 2012 GTPP 5.0 TRACK lap times
In a recent test that motortrend conducted with an ecoboost and 2.0T. The ecoboost was able to put down better number on track and on skidpad. But in turn when they supplied the "base" 2.0T with the same tires as the ecoboost it ran a time of 1:25.71@ the streets of willow. Back in 2012 motor trend performed a H2H 12SS1LE vs 12GTPP5.0 . the 1LE ran a fast lap of 1:22.71 and the mustang? 1:25.77!!!!!! YES PEOPLE a non 1LE 6th gen base car!!! this could indicate that a 1LE V6 is capable of puting down laps as quick as the 2016 GTPP thoughts?
side note the 2015 Challenger scat pack also ran a 1:25.77

Or we could wait until actual 1LE V6 times get published and then extrapolate. Plus remember...same day same track etcetc |

just the simple fact that the 275hp tire only car was capable of producing those times it should be very close. if we can extrapolate that the SS1le is aimed at the GT350 track pack..Why not V61LE VS GTPP?

It may put down faster lap times than my Mustang (S197), but I don't see the v6 1LE outperforming the S550 GT PP.
Remember, the v6 1LE will have suspension bits from the SS, but it'll be down 120 horsepower and 170 or so of torque to SS.. Maybe on a very technical track it could outrun a GT PP, but other than that, I'd say no. |

I just had a really good run today with a 5.0 down some back roads in my 2.0t. (No clue on mods or anything for the mustang just some random guy) On the street the mustang could not keep up with me. At all. Granted we were on very bumpy, twisty farm roads in the hills which was most of the problem for him. His car always wanted to be sideways when he started pushing it whereas i could give my car everything it had and still have grip. I could also brake a lot later than he could and enter corners faster. The guy was a really good driver but he was working way harder than I was to drive his car fast. On a smooth track where he had room to exercise his engine more it would have been close but on a technical track they're probably very even.
As for the v6 1le I really wanted to hold out for that car butttt... most i can tell is its an ss with a v6 in it... which just doesn't really do it for me. I was also anxious to see how much performance the v6 1le actually had over a base v6. I have a strong feeling that it won't be as big of a gap as ss vs ss 1le. Not sure how it'll do against a mustang pp on track.. Thats why I went 2.0t. With a suspension setup, bolt ons/tune, and new brakes and tires my car will eat stock gt's. |

The S197 is very dicey on the streets.. Driving aggressively over uneven surfaces/bumps would give some a heart attack. Lol.

Yeah I let him lead after a while and the pace slowed a bit. I don't blame him, no need to stuff a nice car. The new alpha platform is just utterly amazing though. So much confidence and grip. Even with the crappy runflats it was just easier to push the car harder without being at the limit.
A good friend has an 09 gt500 track pack and I need to take a ride with him and compare how they are in the bends. Every time I have been in that car it has felt incredibly planted and grippy unlike the gts. It needs tires desperately though so that'll have to wait. |

A 15' GTPP ran a 1'24 xxx at the streets of willow with Randy Pobst driving. With him driving it is possible to get close to it in the V6 model 1LE. That is hauling ass at that track.

AGREED low 1:20s is very quick for a daily with a full warranty. Now if MT ever descides to do a V6 1LE test at streets of williow iam hoping to see it around 1:24.50-1:25.00 being that the V6 will have more power, more brakes, tire and mechanical grip "SS suspension" id hope it be faster than a tire only i4T 2016. at 1:25.71 cant wait...if MT wont do it then hopefully C&D will do their Lightning lap with new Grandsport , V81LE and V61LE
