It all comes down to how much comfortable you want your ride. Some dont wanna sacrifice any comfort for performance.

For 2016, the SS in stock trim is already badass, which makes the 1LE even more for the hardcore track guys. Still, I'd be willing to drive one since the handling is unbelievable in mine.

Lot of complaints in 5th gen because the stock SS was suffering heavy body roll and unlimited oversteer (from journalist over the world). Suspension was revised in 2012, but they were not any other real test about stock SS, just 1LE and ZL1 then...

The best part about the 1LE was the price too. Hell of a bargain!!
Do you mean understeer?

Do you guys think that the 1LE could be a standalone model replacing the Z/28.
It won't replace the Z/28.

Oh you are right, very similar but the spacing between the spokes are closer together. They look nice.

A set of wheels was sold on eBay and the tires were Eagle F1 G2s. I'm not sure if they are the factory tire or were just mounted on the set. They were 285/30r20 front and 305/30r20 rear.

What wheels? 6th gen stuff?

...I've got no idea what they're using on the 1LE/ZL1. I can't tell enough from the videos...but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were the F1 G:2 Goodyears again...I know a lot of people around here can't stand them, but they are really great on the track.

Yeah, the black 10 spokes we've seen on the Z** prototypes.

Interesting...first pre-production headlights, and now wheels....someone at GM needs to pay attention to their garbage bins.

That is suggestive, though. Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised in the least.

I'm excited to see what they bring, although the only thing that I can imagine being different than my SS (when I finish the early mods) are the suspension and possibly the gear ratios. Wider rims/tires are easily added, same with the splitter. I'm curious as to what the visual changes will be, as the matte black hood was to the 5th gen.

Aero really doesn't show in those tests. And the GT350 has about as much aero as the SS. R definitely has more, but still no where near what the ACR has. And considering we still haven't really seen comparison of track times of an SS and GT350TP, there's no reason to believe there is that much of a difference.
I have had the chance to take both the SS and the gt350 to Laguna......First and foremost, both are wicked fast. If the "new" 1LE package adds $4500 (guessing) to the MSRP and does not include A long laundry list of options, the GT350 will clean it's clock for around the same $$$ in the end (the gt350 won't always be able to carry the markup it has now). only issue I personally had with the GT350 was the shifter was different...can't explain it....just different. The SS A/T needed a lot more to be competitive: better brakes, better tranny cooler (i could smell it after 3 laps), better tires, better seats, better outward visibility (going to be hard to track with open wheel cars around...you will NEVER see them), better MRC control etc. one other plus, the A8 tranny was the best I have used on the track(street cars) except for the PDK....if it is able to hold up and I could do it, it would be in my 1LE tomorrow. just my .02

They look identical to me. The early spy shots had the 5th gen black 10 spokes. These are probably the production design.
