It's hard to judge the exact color from pictures. On my phone, it looks bright yellow, on my laptop, it looks to be more custard colored. It definitely looks bright yellow in person, so I would go check one out that way. It's hard to say VS the 5th gen yellow since I haven't seen one in a while but the 6th gen looks real good in yellow.
TL;DR: bright yellow is bright yellow |

I love my bright yellow 6gen. And before I saw it at the dealership I had never considered that color. It really looks great, not egg or light yellow at all.. Perhaps after a decade it will fade but new it looks amazing.

When I looked for a yellow car I had exactly the same concerns. The gen 5 yellow looked really very light.
After waiting for some time I went for a yellow 6 gen convertible. My experience with the yellow is, that it really depends on the day light. When the sun is shining directly onto the car, the yellow does not feel as nice as when the sun sets or in the early mornings or when it's cloudy. I remember one day that I stepped out of the house, it was evening, and the car looked really awesome. I tried to take a picture with my phone but the phone camera was not able to capture the beauty of the yellow. Unfortunately the 6 gen yellow is not as nice as the yellow of the Corvette Stingray. My neighbor has a yellow Corvette and we did a color comparison ... The Camaro 6 gen yellow has NOT this golden spark the Corvette has ... But still I love my yellow Camaro.

The yellow really pops on this and the C7. I was not a fan of yellow usually until I saw a C7 and wow. But I went with red hot and have no regrets. Can't go wrong I think

The Gen5 Yellow changed in 2014, 2010-2013 was an awesome vibrant yellow. When changed in 2014 it was called bright yellow which looked almost a little washed out pastel yellow. The Gen6 got a little darker but it is not as vibrant as the 2010-2013 yellow. But overall a really nice yellow.
I had a 2010 Yellow SS, and i was going to get into another one but just didnt pop for me. I ended up choosing the red hot as you can see, been pretty happy with it.

you are correct and need to see it in person
Corvette a few years ago had a yellow that really popped, now the yellow is called racing yellow and is a LOT MORE SUBDUED AND NOT NEWRLY AS BRIGHT AND DOES NOT POP LIKE THE OLD YELLOW, THE NEW 2017 yellow is almost washed out maybe guys can comment how it compares to the Corvette yellow when you fly to compare them go to the Corvette place as well or ask the dealership to take a car over to Corvette and you can see the difference and then you will know how much you end up liking it Example. if I had to choose the Corvette new racing yellow I say no thanks the old yellow was deeper and more thicker and much nicer color as the new yellow is almost faded from the factory. go to the Corvette forums and see the yellows side by side Not a direct comparison but you get the idea stig eh |

Get what makes you happy. Red Hot and Yellow on the Gen 6 both look great. We looked at Red Hot and Garnet Red Tintcoat for my son's 17 RS ($395 extra like yellow). Got the Garnet Red. I think it has some metal flake in it and really pops in the sun, especially with the gray painted wheels. I also like that he has one of only 4450 painted that color in '17.

Even the darker red (not the red hot) color that is offered was still too bright for me. I LOVE the dark mahogany red the C7s come in and wish the Camaros were available in that same finish.

Phone pictures, but I think the yellow is much brighter than the last 5th gen yellow. It was more of a lemon ice color. If it were metallic bright yellow it would have been perfect!
