If the 10speed auto comes in a year it will be on par with a 2SS, imo.
They track the 4T and the V8 at our Sachsenring and found the T4 all in all more balanced and better for that. But car is still to heavy (M4 weighs under 3600lbs). With a tune it can reach 400hp and torque curve is muuch better.
M4 in this segment? 65K to start and option it up to 85K... Yep that's a beautiful car with very similar performance #s of the 6 Gen Camaro.
These reviews are exactly what I was expecting, Camaro reviewed with a big performance advantage over the Mustang. And I could care less of any sales advantage the Mustang currently has.
Well done Chevy.

This comparo in alot of ways reminds me of when the LS1 4th gen cars came out back in 98 and just laid the utter smack down on the Mustangs, Cobra included

I keep reading about this 10 speed auto that is potentially going into the refreshed mustang. Wouldn't this go into the Camaro as well as it was co-developed with GM? Not sure if it was a joke or not but have seen multiple people say GM provided most of the revenue to start the project.

I don't think it's ever been stated as to how much each company spent on this transmission's, or it's 9-speed sibling's, development. All that is now known for sure is that it's first commercial implementation will be the '17 Raptor.

Here's some good in for on it:

Even thought hey worked on the transmission characteristics together, Ford will be using the 10 speed alone in its RWD vehicles while GM will take what they learned and make a new 9 speed. At least thats what i've read so far. So most likely the Camaro could see a new 9 speed in a few years.

Incorrect the 9 speed is going to be used in FWD applications similar to FCAs unit. That was the whole point behind the co-project. To save cost by jointly building a new RWD and FWD trans for both companies.

From the above article.

"General Motors has officially partnered up with Ford to use this design in the future. Ford appears to be leading this design effort, and in return GM appears to be leading the design effort for the 9 speed FWD transmissions. Though the GM 8L family is an excellent*design in its own right, but perhaps the economies of scale inherent in a partnership are attractive enough for them to adopt this design after a relatively short time with the 8L family."

A 10 speed doesn't necessarily mean it will make a car faster, better fuel economy yes.

I don't understand how some people don't love the new interior? I am specifically buying a camaro (2SS) over a mustang and other cars because I like the new camaro interior 5x better. I have no brand loyalty and I have never owned a car before. It's also way nicer than any comparable BMW or audi that I looked at.

Right, unless they use a higher 1st gear which make for a hard launch. Also could up the final ratio with the extra gears.

It's a nice interior (and a HUGE step up from the 5th gen) for sure, but no... it is not nicer than even the entry level BMW (2-series) or Audi (A3).

I have to agree with Bassment, I like the 2016 Camaro interior more than most out there. That's not to say I think the fit and finish is way better quality than a 2 series or an audi, but I do prefer the layout and features. Plus the quality of fit and finish look more than livable for me.

And then, despite this, went out of production just a few years later. How does that happen?

If all else fails, bring up sales directly or indirectly.

That's because the purpose of those cars is to have nice interiors.
