All headers sound the same. 1 7/8 sound like 2 also. I have Longtube headers and no mufflers sounds good to me

Anyone have recommendations on what would be the "quietest" or do they all (AR, SW, Kooks) pretty much produce the same decibel increase?

Thanks for any help.
you might want to contact Ted at JRE, he sells several hp upgrade packages for the ZL1 along with headers and cats. He is a forum sponsor here on C5.

Thanks but I have the pulley upgrade (& tune) planned, was just trying to see if one brand of long tube headers w/hi flow cats produce a tad less sound than other brands but its looking like the answer will be no as they are all pretty similar in regards to loudness.

I was also curious about an increase in interior noise?

All long tube headers are going to sound about the same. I recommend the going with KOOKS.

As for not making any more power with headers, that is completely incorrect.. Sure you'll lose a pound of boost, but boost is simply a measurement of restriction. The engine will be running more efficiently and will make more power.

Here is a dyno from an M6 ZL1 we did a while back. Only mods were an K&N intake system and KOOKS 1-7/8 long tube headers with cats.

Back to the original question:

For the quietest setup, you could switch cat-backs to the Magnaflow ZL1 cat-back. It's quieter than the OEM cat-back, but much deeper and has a lot of bass to it.

You could also consider welding in a Magnaflow resonated X pipe in place of the factory H, but the differential cooler lines will have to be moved slightly.

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler

Thanks for the info Tyler. Right now I'm planning the 10% pulley and ATI damper w/tune. Already have the Rotofab cai in. May consider the Kooks 1 7/8 down the road a bit. Not going too wild with this as it is my daily driver.

Have any idea what HP/TQ #'s an auto ZL1 with the above pulley/damper/RotoFab with tune would make at the wheels?

With the automatic, you should see about 500-520 with those mods.

Thanks. I was hoping that the pulley change w/tune and cai would have gotten me closer to 530ish.

Yes, you may lose boost but still gain power. How many times does it take to beat people over the head with this idea. Boost does NOT equate to power. Make the engine flow better and boost will go down and power will go UP!

Boost is a measurement of resistance.
