I just had my rear diff replaced for howl on deceleration. I am very happy GM was willing to replace the whole thing. Very nice to not hear the noise anymore.

Mine was rebuilt and it came back then they replaced the entire thing. I still hear something at decel but no where near the amount of noise I heard before. I'm thinking it's the F1s now.

Been searching and found this thread. I have the whine on decel between about 70mph-60mph. It is barely noticeable, and wanted to know if I should be concerned about it. When I took my car in for super charger replacement, the dealer scratched my bumper and chipped my strut tower bar that I had painted. Would rather just change out the fluid myself, but I think the decel whine won't be affected by that. Thanks for any help.

The deceleration whine usually means your backlash is off.

I noticed on decel, if I take my car out of gear the noise stops. The gears would still be turning in the rear, so I'm not sure what it is.

When you take it out of gear you are disengaging the driveline so it is free spinning.

I have had the same issues with my 2012 at 5K it started grinding and they replaced fluids and it went away. Now I have a different issue and it feels like the backlash is off somehow. When I accelerate sometimes I feel the rearend bump like the clutches weren't engaged. It also seems to do it when I downshift at 50-60mph. I can't make it do it all the time, but on a regular drive It will happen plentyof times. Has anybody else felt this?

I haven't had that issue with mine. I just have a faint noise on decel between 70-55 or so. I want to do some mods to the car, but would like to get the rear squared away first. I don't know if the faint noise will stay like that or if it will get a lot worse as time goes on. I have 20k miles on it.
