Question Benefits of an AGM Battery?

Can anyone help me out here? I tried searching and couldn't find too much info.

Why would someone pick an AGM over the stock type battery?
I know they don't leak. But is there any real benefit?

Advantages-

Spill-proof through acid encapsulation in matting technology

High specific power, low internal resistance, responsive to load

Up to 5 times faster charge than with flooded technology

Better cycle life than with flooded systems

Water retention (oxygen and hydrogen combine to produce water)

Vibration resistance due to sandwich construction

Stands up well to cold temperature

Limitations-

Higher manufacturing cost than flooded (but cheaper than gel)

Sensitive to overcharging (gel has tighter tolerances than AGM)

Capacity has gradual decline (gel has a performance dome)

Low specific energy

Must be stored in charged condition (less critical than flooded)

Not environmentally friendly (has less electrolyte, lead than flooded)

5th year using them on our boat in 100+ deg summers. AGMs tolerate abuse like a deep cycle. We usually completely drain one of two running the stereo a few times a season. The AGMs charge quickly.

Usually the boat starts right up in the spring despite no trickle charger for 4-5 mos. They were completely dead this time but I left the battery switch on. After charging them, both are retaining their charges. In the past I needed to replace lead/acid every 3 seasons almost without exception.

They are smaller in size than the Interstate lead/acid I replaced.

On the downside, the AGMs don't seem to act quite like the capacitor as the lead/acids did - we have a massive subwoofer and it will cause the stereo to drop out depending on the music. There could be other variables, but I don't remember the drop outs with the lead/acid.
